I've posted a progress update report on the Mossie MkVI cockpit over at the Netwings forum.
http://www.netwings.org/dcforum/DCForumID43/1137.html
With a bit of luck and a lot of hard work it should be finished by the end of August. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Excellent work, prangster...

Out of curiosity - how many man hours does this job take...for the Mossie cockpit from beginning (research and reference gathering) to completion and submittal?...It looks like several hundred...is it more?

Is the reference collection handled by people other than the modeler? Or is it best to do all that yourself? And, if you don't mnd one last question, how long does it take just to do the model of the cockpit once you sit down at the computer?

sorry To ask so many questions... but I have only seen modelers refer to it as a lot of work - which is apparent - but I think many people do not realize the full commitment you are making (Jippo too, on the Ju88) and need to be aware of the huge effort it takes.

heywood

At least 250 hours with a cockpit like this. There are higher expectations since the J8 an I185 were released and although I don't claim to be up the the same standard I have used some of the same techniques.

I did all the research having started out knowing virtually nothing about the Mossie I now have a fine collection of books and magazine articles (and a smaller bank balance). Most of my reference is photographic but I did manage to pickup a PDF version of a complete Mossie MkVI manual from the De Havilland museum that has reference drawings. The best information I have comes from www.mossie.org (http://www.mossie.org) including lots of very good photos.

looks great indeed.
I love "moskitos" as much as G√¬∂ring hated them.Seems he phoned and gratulated everyone who shot one down. Heinz Knoke answered a phonecall in his underwares and laughed to himeself while G√¬∂ring babbled on about the badness of "moskitos".

Love to see this baby fly http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Very nice indeed! I wonder what that hole in the seat is for - just behind the co-pilots head. To give the enemy a fair chance of a headshot lol? There must be some reason for it. Anybody?

Prangster, that is looking amazing. I'm really looking forward to flying that. Many years ago I got to sit in the 'pit of the prototype Mossie up at Hatfield; looking at your work brings it right back to me.
Many Cheers!

The navigators rear head armour is hinged and can be dropped backwards to allow access to the radio. The glass porthole is for moitoring the radio dials.

I have no real idea what aircraft will be available in BOB, and Im sure Im the same as the rest of the British lads who post here, when I say that the big three I want to fly would be the Spitfire, the Mosquito, and the Lancaster. Not just those of course, hurries beaufighters, wellingtons, even a halifax would not go amiss!! But how are they going to work them into BOB? Is this sim going to a British type sim? , like IL2 is Russian, if you know what I mean.. Because the Mossie came into sevice after 1940. Are we getting lancs? bugger it, someone gimme a link please, lol

There are a lot of people, who say, that bombing can never win a war. Well, my answer to that, is that it has never been tried yet, and we shall see.

BoB is going to be the starting point for a whole series of WW2 scenarios. Completely new game engine so everything in it is new. BoB, will, of course, only have the a/c from the period but apparently everything else will follow on. There are some guys working on the 'prequel' already, i.e. Battle of France. Sorry, but I've lost the link. Anyone?
Cheers!
