http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif The trees look like crapola, the sunlight is rendered horribly wrong, and it dosen't even look like real water.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif This is how the same scene is rendered on my card. Notice the excellent detail and subtle textures.....

Can you imagine what it would be like when games will look like that? You would probably lose your mind forgetting where you are.

I nearly spilt lemonade outta my nose when i saw that! For a nano-second, I thought, could it be?

But I honestly believe we will have this graphic capability within 20 years at least (bar any unforseen world disasters)...

"unforseen" world disasters??? Please everyone knows that our civilisation has got 15 years left, tops!
But when we go down, be sure that I'll be playing PC games with much better graphics than displayed above! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Look at this nVidia vs. ATI image quality comparison:

nVidia
http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/222_1083183940_farcry90.jpg
ATI
http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/222_1083183940_farcry90.jpg

Seriously, it's amazing to think that games will look like that someday. The work load in modeling and texturing would be immense. Probably by that time, tools will be adopted for random autogeneration of such small details to help shorten development time.

adlabs6 i have to disagree on the dev times, i think games will have shorter dev times because hardware will be 10X more powerfull than todays and so they will have more powerfull tools plus instead of spending ages on models like they do now and artwork on the "worlds" we play in it will all be photo's just like above, although this brings all sorts of new challenges but we will have better tools to over come them...

but i supose we will have to wait and see http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Looks like Nvidia has a slight edge over the ATI offering...judging from your "screenshots" anyway. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif
