I am teh newb and thinking of getting this game. But hold up...can it play well without a joystick or is it highly realistic and very demanding of one? I ask because the only one I got is a bit too bulky and the stick is curved and molded in such a way that you basically HAVE to use your right hand on the stick (and Im lefty)

Buy a good joystick, pal, or forget about FB... Using the keyboard is almost impossible, even with easy settings, and anyway you would lose all the realism.

FB is one of the most immersive games I ever played (and God knows I've played a lot) ; using an old unfit joystick (or worse, no joystick at all) would kill your pleasure.

Considering the infinite hours I spent on this game, I think my 70$ wireless Logitech joystick is the best buy of the year (I must have played for 0,001 cent an hour /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif )

1st you need a stick

2nd i'm a lefty too and i use a right hand stick whihc is fine you just have to try. I got the Saitek Cyborg stick. it is a really nice one IMO and you can change it to left hand if you want to.

2 things we need in FB:
The 110 and the desert!!!

A joystick enhances the experience and makes flying much easier than piloting by keyboard. I suppose you could get to be very good with keystrokes, but to me "up/down/right/left" buttons are jerky and imprecise. Also, a stick with a throttle slider and function buttons helps in the heat of battle. Not to mention z-axis for rudder control.

Hope you find a comfortable 'lefty' stick.

I dont care how good you are with a keyboard..you will only enjoy FB so much without a stick...preferably a good one. Dont spend less than $40 or you will regret it. Yopu can get a reconditioned Saitek X45 here http://store.yahoo.com/saitekusa/recprod.html. Best buy has MSFFB2 sticks for $59 with no rebate all week long.
