Actually not official... But I`m convinced Oleg`s changed this.

While wondering what campaign to fly next I had a go at flying as a japanese pilot with AI friends and enemy P40s AI.

At one point I decided to slip right infront of TWO the AI friendlies chasing a P40.... Normally (prepatch)I`d be shot to pieces

The AI friendly did hit me a couple of times, but that`s because I`d just slipped in front. Then he stopped - that`s when I first noticed.

Here the AI fighters in the forground corner and I`m between him and the P40, he has a solution, but he`s not firing.

A closer look. The zero in foreground still won`t fire.

http://img12.photobucket.com/albums/v31/SeaFireLIV/breakaway.jpg
I shot up the P40 and when I got to close I broke off. The zero behind is still not firing.

http://img12.photobucket.com/albums/v31/SeaFireLIV/AIfires2.jpg
NOW he fires!

http://img12.photobucket.com/albums/v31/SeaFireLIV/AIfires3.jpg
From the AI view. I`m in distance breaking away.

Well, from the lack of complaints since the patch, I knew something was different. I`m sure he`s fixed it bigtime. AI will stop firing if you get in front!

Good find.. I noticed that too!! Pre patch even when I tried to move often Id be riddled by the time I got out of the line of fire.. now the AI only hits me a few times then stops.

Not always...

Today in an offline campaign I was chasing a Frank in my Spit 9 (in SEAC colors, of course http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif). My cannons were empty and I was pecking away at him from a very close range with my .50s, about 20 meters behind him, when he suddenly blew up. But I didn't get the kill.

My AI wingman, who was trailing right behind me and who still had cannon ammo left, literally shot right over my shoulder to get him. I saw his tracers going right past my canopy.

No, he didn't hit me. But those AI will steal my kills any way they can http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I wish there were a way to call AI friendlies off of a bad guy. I often see half a dozen friendly AI fighters chasing one AI bandit who already is on fire while a whole flight of bad guys goes by unchallenged. Once they engage, the AI friendlies will roger your commands but keep chasing the target.

Well, we should give Oleg some credit for being quiet, but listening. A lot of people were complaining strongly about friendly AI shooting up their planes. And he`s sorted that at least. He improves things everytime. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Another thing I've noticed too. I was chasing a 109 with a spit 9 the other night and off to my left - very close - was the wingman of the 109 that I was shooting at. He never did slid in behind me as I passed him and shot down his flight leader. The first impression is: 'maybe he was out of ammo' but I've seen this happen too many times. Once when the dogfight had just started so I know the enemy plane I was passing hadn't expended his ammo yet.

THANK YOU OLEG AND DEV TEAM!

Rookie and/or wingmate level AI will not engage you at times. They seem to get locked onto thier leader, and seem to be more concerned about staying with him, than shooting the 'baddies' (you). Depending on situation, of course, I'll take out the wingie first, then the leader if I can make it part of the same, or nearly the same solution / firing pass.

Oh, and very good news about friendly AI kills, I believe I may start another campaign. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Good hunting,

What if there were no hypothetical questions?

I have also noticed that you can change the bomber pilot uniforms!!! Before only the main pilot and not the crew. THis is great for movie makers like me!

This was an old feature in some bombers like He111 and B17.The realy annoying thing is in the two seaters the gunner is always a/c default.
