Try fighting I-153 and I-16's. The pilot is now EXTREAMLY vulnerable. P.11 is still a little tough, and the Cr-42 will EXPLODE if you hit its belly under the cockpit.

I love the fact that open cockpit aircraft are now a PK waiting to happen, as it should have been when IL2 was first released.

My post's are my asumptions only, and in no way linked to fact. I am not an official 1C, Ubi, or Russian Red Rocket spokesman.

"Most P-39's were sent to the Russians - so I guess that was an American secret weapon against our Russian allies."

Stan Wood, P-38 pilot who also flew the P-39.

Are the FW190's equally bad?

Dont know. I have had very few PK's when shooting up FW's. Typically the only way to kill them was to detach a major peace of structure from the aircraft http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It's too bad they didn't make the I-16s and the I-153s the firetraps they were in RL as well. Oh, well. You take what you can get I guess.

Well, I hesitate to say whether this is so accurate or suiting guys who never fly these aircraft anyway.

I have my doubts on these `improvements`.

Open cockpit planes always had vulnerable pilots. Only exception would be from the rear on the Polikarpov designs - but their wings are so vulnerable it barely matters.
