Good grief. An absolutely stunning cockpit. A great looking 3D model. A life-like environment. Then you start the engine and.....burst bubble. Sounds like a Singer sewing machine. What a disappointment.
I can't for the life of me figure out why the sounds in this game are sooooo crappy! Everything else is so good (with the exception of a few glitches in flight models).
"Turn down your hardware acceleration!" Bull.
Why should I do that? I shouldn't have to IMO.

When are they going to fix the sound in this game?? Or are they?

I asked one of Ubis lead testers which soundcards/driver settings their beta testing regime includes and got no answer.

Other than the occasional very overamped sound, my sound problems are practically gone.

I'm using an Nforce2 MCP-T, NF2 drivers 2.45 "remix", max hardware sound acceleration, attentuation set to "2" in conf.ini, "balanced" 3d engine mode, hardware extensions on, and "headphones" set as the speaker type. 16 channel mode works fine for me, but 32 channel mode leads to a bunch of dropped sounds either with HW accel. on or off.

I'm sorry to see that a lot of people are still having big problems with this, it's sort of a basic thing to look at before a product ships, or so I'd think.

Why does everyone have it out for the pig? Pigs cant fly.....or can they if so what is their roll rate and top speed at sea level? What is the best version of the pig to fly and will I be considerd a kook for flying an uber pig?

Serious note...I think FB will be most rememberd for this one issue though it seems fine on my end.

- Sounds like a Singer sewing machine.
- What a disappointment.

I have a similiar problem: in the outside views Bf109 sounds like Formula-1 racer car engine at 10 000 rpm. It can't be realistic, can it? There are several planes with this sound peculiarity... it worked much, much better in original IL2 (i.e. not FB).

Best!

go to netwings.org and download some of the engine dat recordings

cfs2 used many real engine recordings and the sound packs are still on netwings

fb has the worst sounds out of any flightsim, I hope they get improved

fb sounds engine sounds = weedwacker even startups are all the same. Hope the soundguy does some researching and purching of real engine sounds,

Since the patches I've lost the sound of my own plane. I can hear anything else that comes close (great when someone is sneaking up on your six) but bloody weird to be flying along in total silence, and much harder to judge speed and attitude.

Boo hiss.

I think it would be cool to have more realistic engine sounds, maybe gun sounds, too. However, I have no idea how to make good sounds so I guess I should just stfu.
