why on earth do people insist on linking to pages, instead of direct links?

i know people want to advertise thier sites, or the site of someone hosting thier stuff.

but it is insanly annoying.
you want to show us the movie, link to that movie, not to some site the movie is on,

we shouldnt have to go fishing around to find it. Just so someone can advertise them selves.

a directly can be "save-as'd" really easy, so people only have to download it once, saving bandwidth. and there are less problems for example. After finding the movie on the site, all i get is a black box. The movie wont load, for what ever reason, i dont know. I have no clue if its a site error or why its not loading.

so we are left with nothing.

big waste of time

if you are going to link to something, link to it.

1: Here is a direct link: http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~chapman/flightsims/oberstguncam/Frameset/datafriken1.htm

2: I have emailed Wiley asking of a link to download the movie

3: You better use Internet explorer to watch the movie.

4: Im only 12 years old.

5: Read 1,2,3,4!

Davinci,

Your ingratitude is deep. Here is your direct link:

http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~chapman/flightsims/oberstguncam/Movies/the_beginning_of_the_end_stalingrad.wmv

Wiley sent me the movie by private transfer on Thursday, but I just got it onto my server about half an hour ago. This is an exception, normally the turnover from his sending to my uploading is less than a day except for weekends. He made the page before the movie was available.

I16fan was unaware of any this.

That said, I can't get the movie to play for me on the web interface, I get some kind of security warning. I am working on that with Wiley. However, if you now directly download it you should be able to view it.

Hope you all enjoy the movie.

Cheers,
Mike

I didnt find it annoying, my friend. I have always loved to see those fantastic movies and guncams on that site. I had a real good time watching the colored guncam.

Please, it's not advertising, it's a way of sharing goodies with all the people who are interested in these things. maybe we all can learn to appreciate.

Just for the record, there is a good reason to post a link to this particular site and not just the clip (though posting a direct link is not a bad idea). Wiley's site is full of interesting gun cam clips, movies and images, all very closely related to or coming directly from IL-2/FB and some real WWII clips as well. I host it for him and it isn't to advertise the site to get money, since there is no money made from it. It's all about spreading the word about Wiley's creative work and the collection of other films and images that are there. /i/smilies/16x16_robot-happy.gif

I16 Fan!

Great movie you made! ...and it is a fantastic first movie, you have learned alot from the masters and can't wait to see you upcoming movies. You are mastering the angle takes and fade in/out very much and are learning to master the feeling of music with the story that you are trying to show us. Very good work, keep it up!

The use of this piece of Hans Zimmer music is very popular. We had it in our unreleased movie enetitled Kursk 1943. We decided to change the movie and score because both the Silver Triggers("Recruitment video" and Schultz and Schultz "JV 44 Dora"), used the same score. Excellent music.

I saw some flashes of excellence in your work young man, great first effort! Please keep at it.

Well..i still can't find the appropiate words, quoting Robert de Niro in Analyze it!: "You've got the gift", wow boy, you're putting your holidays time to such a nice use and for our own benefit ! Your movie is just great, i was finishing my first try at movie editing, but now i think i will have to work on it a lot more.

Congratulations kid....

Good flight to you !

Nonsense, I verified the joints twice!: This was the answer given by chief Mechanic Klaus Stoeffel to Oberst Lotar Von M├╝llenbrock when he complained about some strange vibrations in the wings of his Me-262 during take off. This picture show that Oberst Von M├╝llenbrock's fears were in fact quite real.
