I would like to thank Oleg and his team for making surprise attacks possible again.

I have only been able to start testing couple days ago and didn´t follow boards much since the patch was released so maybe somebody mentioned this topic already but as one of the loudest "bouncewhiners" I feel obliged to come here and express my thanks.

My dream has come true! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I can bounce and be bounced too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also I like new damage models and structural failure modelling. Excellent job!

Best regards

I am not fully sure.. must admit I still turn my head left and right to be able to hear somebody coming from my rear.. but managed few kills which completely surprised the bogey. Definitely it is the weakest sonar we had, if any.

This sounds way too good to be true. Last night I bounced 3 on the same run in my 190, yet before the patch the 190 was having a little trouble getting that many kills. I really hope the sonar is gone.

Bad story: Me and another were attacking an enemy in high performance russian bird. I was an already damaged 190, the other in a 109. The russian had good SA (and I had bad aim, so it worked well for them) and dodged every time the 109 was coming. When complimented on this by the 109 the russian responded in a surprisingly plain manner, "Thanks! I have the sound turned up and my headphones on." You could imagine the look on my face and the other german.

For me it`s gone. I think it boiled down to user level at this point - meaning hardware. Those who still have sonar and would like to get read of it, submit your dxdiag and conf.ini to il2beta@1c.ru ASAP, because as far as i understood another patch is in works, you might want to get it out there before it`s complete.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Still in ! maybe a bit weaker but still in !

SB 5.1 Live....

But I think it's rather like Crazyivan said, since in a good run I happened to bounce four Spits in a row.

But then again if we'Re on individual-hw issues how about toning down the individual-cloud effects.

If you fly on FULL clouds you wont spot planes behind clouds (which is ok.. of course... *g*) but if the same guy flys on medium clouds he'll spot enemies 3km away behind clouds, track them, and only in the last moment, when the clouds pop-out the LOS is blocked. This is really ridiculous. I think it would be better to block the LOS to any plane behind clouds, be they visible to the current graphical settings or not...

Willey:
What sound settings do you have? I find that my sound blaster live on 32 channels sucks CPU power to the extent that it compromises frame rates even with an ATI 9800 Pro. My CPU is an AMD XP 2000+. So I have the number of sound channels down at the minimum which means that I get no engine sounds when firing. I wonder if this is also the case if other planes close by are firing? (In the heat of the moment I don't really notice if this is the case or not).

Given that engine sounds are likely to be the loudest thing in a WW2 plane I wish that when channels are reduced it is the engine sounds that are lost last (after voice). Maybe a change in sound priorities needed?

The only time I really need to hear my own guns firing is when in an IL2 - I want to know that the rear gunner is engaging. But I'd prefer it for the rear gunner tell me that there is something on my six before needing to open up on it.

Or maybe have it such that the server can enforce cloud settings on the clients? Or only allow clients with matching cloud settings join? (The former would be more convenient).

That would be cool if everyone wanted to fly fair play and would himself try to get rid of sonar but I can imagine a guy who likes to exploit it and I don´t believe he would take pains removing it from his machine when its so conveniet for him to have it...therefore if some ppl still have it a way has to be found to "disable" it for everyone no matter if they want or not

Btw. which dxdiag file is the one to be sent to the developer?

Thank you

Howdy Kocour!

My sonar is unfortunately still working http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif I think it was better in my system in 1.22 patch.

Gonna send those files ASAP.

"Btw. which dxdiag file is the one to be sent to the developer?"

Maybe the one you get when you run dxdiag and click "Save All Information"?

Someone at SimHQ noted that old (pre-patch) msg_snd.dll work with 2.01, which is something I didn't care to replicate to be honest, but if that's true then someone that wants sonar sound back only has to drop in the old dll and voil !

well ,maxmars thaks for that info.
I did't check that yet and not like to try that too , but If it back then let someone enjoy it until 2.02 come http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
