View Full Version : HE111H6 gaining altitude

In the single missions I take the HE111H6 off with no problem but I have an awful time trying to gain altitude once I get her in the air. I can eventually nurse her up there but I'm wondering if it should be this tough. I increase my throttles to military power but I'm wondering if there is anything else I should be doing.

Fly level for a while untill you've gained some speed, then start your climb.

Exactly as above, but when taking off with a heavy load increase mixture to 120% to give you an extra boost and gain speed faster, just remeber to set it back to 100%.

I had probs getting off the ground. Somebody suggested cutting back the fuel load to lighten the plane.

25% fuel will get you all the way across the Smolensk map and back. I suggest taking no more than 50% fuel when flying the He-111. The only reason to take 50% is if you get a fuel leak you can still make it home. With 25% fuel you may or may not be able to. Assuming no fuel leaks, 25% fuel lasts about an hour and a half in the He-111H6.

The He-111 took quite a bit of time to climb. Fully ladden it took over 30 min to reach 5000mts.

In FB, looks quite Ok. If you are carring the pair of SC2000 (thats 4000kgs!) it will take quite a lotof time.

Those pair of SC2000 are unreal and impossible for the real He-111. it's maximum over-load is 2500-3000kgs (depending on fuel)

Use about 220 kmh IAS climb speed, and trim your plane in an angle so you have this airspeed all the time.. it gets much easier if you do this..

Thanks for all of your help. I've got the hang of it now. I was trying to climb to fast without enough air speed.

When you get to alt. trim prop pitch to around 80 and mix to 80-90 depending on alt. Run 70-80 throttle till target, save those motors for running home.

I wouldn't use that approach, I run 100% power from takeoff to landing, radiator fully closed (except on takeoff, then they are open and power at 110%) and pitch at 95%. She will not overheat with this setup. I have found the best climb speed to be 240km/h IAS. I use 100% mix up to 4500m at which point I switch to 90% to keep engines from flooding.

I use 100 power 100 pitch rad closed no overheating.. supercharger #1 up to about about 3500 meters, supercharger #2.. set mix to 80 % after 4500 meters... set mix to 60 % when approaching 6000.. and above 7000 40 % mix.. it becomes much harder to fly above 7000 though, but its still possible to bomb from this altitude http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

huh? Then what am I doing wrong?? Those engines overheat on me often. I only use it online, not sure if that matters.

You probebly fly too slow. At 240km/h IAS and higher she doesn't overheat. If you fly 220km/h then I don't doubt she does. At 240km/h you can just bairly avoid overheating. 101% power will result in overheat with the setup I use.
