Hmmm... I only tried it once in a QMB against a 109G2, and, well, it doesn't seem to be my kind of ride at all.

Apart from its great visibility throgh all that glass, it didn't feel all that great at all.

I haven't yet tried the 109 against it, that might be a very different story, all of a sudden.

First thing spook me is SUPERB foward visibility, hard to stall it, deadly triple cannons fire and great bomb load carrying when I tried it in QMB. Of course I knew most servers will banned it so fast. It is so Uber plane!

The I-185M-71 sure IS a ueber plane. Fast climb, high level speed - and lighter than the M82 variant which also means better turn rates!

The M-82 is the very counterpart to the Bf-109G-2 but the M-71 totally outclasses all piston engined german fighter (well - i didn't try against Ta-152 at high alt).

I love it anyway! At least because of its cool look.

the plane isnt very fast and will be no threat to spit9s or k4s doras etc. itll be dangerous on the deck in slow furballs. its not uber.

the quality of the model is great, the interior looks like its from a game a couple years away.

I cant believe they didnt do anything about the 109g2 109z or ki84 but they make the p40s stall out so easy now and the mustang have a much slower rate of climb.

I agree with reddeth its good down low but thier other new aircraft can seem to turn inside it with ease, also that dark gunsite is tuff to aim on green maps http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yep - the cockpit is absolutely gorgeous. As good as the Gladiator or an aircraft from Lock On. It's hard to believe it uses the same game engine as the Bf 109.

I flew it against BF109 G-2 to test turning performance. I had to make 4-5 complete turns in order to get on bf's tail (btw it was AI ace). I had combat flaps on and speed around 300km/h. If the AI wouldn't extend, it would've taken even more turns.

It is not a phenomenal turner by any means.

Nice plane indeed!
but it has a bug, you can't land with rockets, you explode:

http://www.barf209.demon.nl/I-185%20-%20landswithrocketsandExplodes.ntrk

Thats not happening with other planes.

" the mustang have a much slower rate of climb "

as it should be, it climbed almost the same as the G6 in 2.00

To whoever made this plane:

Thanks for this plane... it's beautiful! The cockpit is the best in the game so far IMHO. And when you're not looking at that, you can just stare in awe at your wingman on your 4 o'clock. Then when you want to shoot an enemy down you just open up with your mini-gun!

Jolly good show old chap!

This plane is completely Uber... its very fast, don't lose energy while turning, is very well armed, have a incredible unobstructed view, and it turn better than a spit while staying at more than 500kph and without the pilot blacking out...

It remind me the 1.0 LA7, but better.

And it's a 1942 plane.

I wonder who send a crate of herb to maddox games. Maybe it wasn't a good idea for them to smoke it...

Am curious. How does the design of an aircraft make a pilot less liable to "black out" at the same given G as another aircraft? Can appreciate that different pedal heights seat angles etc can have some relevance, is this what is happening here?

I'm no rocket scientist, but htink you're right. G is G. In any plane it effect should be the same. Or it shouldn't? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Not sure what this brings, but:

Me with 4 glasses of wine in I-185 vs 1 AI 109G2 at ace level. Ace wins every time.

Me with 5 glasses of sine in 109G2 vs AI I-185 at ace level, I win about 50% of the duels, the AI the other 50%. (no occurrance yet of both of us running out of ammo.)

With this I'm not trying to say that I185 is not a marvellous plane, just that it's not my plane.

Now, a Spit-IX on the other hand...

It certainly has nice cockpit textures but that is all I can really say about it. I only flew it once for 2 minutes. Regardless of how it performs, it will be banned from most realistic servers because it never entered production.

Uber plane? Turns like a Spit? Come on guys....

G2 outclimbs it big time, it is as fast nad turns even better then I-185.

I-185 has no chance vs G2 online.

when you recline somewhat the body's capacity to take G forces is very much increased. The F-16 has a pilot leaning back about 30 degrees, letting the pilot take very high g forces. There was one german plane i think where the pilot was on his stomach. in this condition they can do amost like 7 or 8 wihtout blackout. it all has to do with the way the stress of G is disperesed across your body.
i believe the p51 was the most advanced design of wwii in that respect, not sure though, dont hold me to it.

Are you sure you are not talking about the new Laggs?? This thing is way faster than any other mid-war plane that I can think of. I got over 500Kph so easily it was not funny. Only a mid-war FW-190 can reach speeds approaching it. The 109s sure can't...

I don't try it yet, but I185 has very high wingload and M71 should suffered from quick overheating and unrealibility, as these were main technical reasons not to put it in serial production..

Altitude, speed, manoeuvre and.... CRASH!

I can't see a reason why... yesterday I saw on a dogfight server the spits having the 185s for breakfast so easily...
it's far, very far of being a uber plane, mainly because the way she likes to explode when hit
