So I've recently decided that it's time for me to stop crawling and start walking, so I enabled the CEM. And it's fine, I understand the principle involved, however I noticed a very strange thing. The manual on CD2 of IL-2FB says that certain plains (like the 109 series) have mixture control manual not auto. However I can't change it in flight, I've binded the keys and everything but the game doesn't react. It's as if the mixture control is auto not manual. The problem is even more evident with for example the P-47. The game manual says that mixture control is manual and supercharger has two stages (which I assume means it is not auto otherwise it would say 'auto' in the game manual). However ingame I can only control prop pitch, both mixture and supercharger don't react. Before you say that I must have configured the keys wrong, let me just say that for example planes like I-16 or Yak etc. behave normal, i.e. I can change all three settings (prop, mixture and supercharger) just as the game manual say I should be able.

So where is this discrepancy between the game and the manual coming from? Is it the problem with the game or hasn't the manual been updated after the patches? Have the 1.21. and 1.22. patches changed anything with regards to CEM that would explain this?

There are some errors in the manual, and some of the aircraft had the wrong system in the original release and have been changed in patches. See all the various readme files that came with both the original game and the patches for more info.

Thanks for posting I was starting to think I was all alone out there http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

It seems to me that the manual is wrong more often than it is right about cem settings for various planes.

Wannabe, on the page above there is a link to a PDF file called FB engine aircraft specs. It might be more up-to-date than the FB manual.

Cheers,
Mike
