Heinkel He 115B would be perfect for the new Murmansk map !

Nils, following your post in the Fw 190D-13 thread, what is the status of your He 115B ?? I checked my PM at Netwings and no update from you.

Thanks,

I just doubled checked my sources on the Luftwaffe Luftflotte 5 and I show losses for Heinkel 115B & C from 1940 up until late 1943. Most of the He 115 losses due to the enemy were on attacks on convoys that were bound for Murmansk - therefore the He 115B would be great for that new Murmansk map!

Also show lots of Ju 87R action on convoys even in 1942, as well as Ju 88A-17 (Jippo's flyable) up until and including 1945.

this was the first ever aircraft I made a model of with me dad when I was about 7 or something. I loved this aircraft!!! Don't remember exactly why, but I remember it seemed to be featured in almost every other Commando comic book I read then, hehe.

I like sea planes. I like the Cat, and I'm looking forward to all these Japanese seaplanes, but I would love to have this He-115 in the game (and then perhaps a Short Sunderland Flying Boat??? puh-puh-puh-puh-puh-pleeeeaaaassseee!!!!!!)

But I'm wondering....

....what with having the Tirpitz in the game, and now Murmansk, perhaps they might be about to spring some Norwegian maps on us???? Tromsoe Fjord, and the like???? Narvik????

Would be rather interesting!!

whit ye looking at, ya big jessie?!?!

That is too funny.....You too ?? I had a bunch of those in mid/late /'70s growing up....paperback black-and-white pocket format book format and it did seem that the He 115 was in just about every other release wasn't it ?? Ever since, the He 115 has remained one of my favorite aircraft. Not the most powerful aircraft or fast by any means, but still a very interesting design.

Hope it gets proper loadouts as well. Too bad the C variant was abandonned. There was a C sub-variant with a solid mounted MG151/20 in a gondola under the nose that looked quite different for a seaplane.

You know, last year I moved to a new place down in Leicester for the summer.

Do you know what I found in my new room??? A big stack of about 20-odd Commando comics!!!! I was astonished, and immensely pleased!!!! Waves of nostalgia washed over me as I remember all the deeds of derring do I would read about, and how I would always faithfully copy out the detailed aircraft pics, of vehicle pics at the back (I copied, not traced them!! I was arty as a kid http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif ).

First thing I did was spend the next 2 hours reading these commando comix before I'd even unpacked!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

But anyway, let's get this sweet baby into the game!! The He-115 is one of, if not the best multirole combat floatplane ever built!!

Actually an He 115C-1 with fixed-forward firing MG151/15 or MG151/20 (profile looks more like MG151/20 but many source quote 15mm) in gondola under nose (second profile)

I'd pay a full price of $49.99 for a download just to get THAT plane...

Some mroe He 115 stuff:

Many surviving He 115 were fitted with heavier armament in 1942-43, some with the MG 81Z twin-gun installation in the dorsal position.

It was a great kit though http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Maddox is building one for BoB. Also, Nils was building a He 115C variant, but dropped that one for lack of references. He started from scratch with his He 115B-1. This is the WIP that is represented earlier in this post.

Bump for a flyable He 115. We definetly need more maritime aircraft.

If it does make it to FB, I doubt it will be flyable. No surviving aircrafts, and I have not seen any good cockpit reference. Just count your blessings if we get it AI.

Now that we are getting a Murmansk map with apparently a good chunck of Norway, the He 115 will definately be a worthwhile addition.

Cheers,

Jagd

Apparently there is a survivor in france, if you are intrested.
The plane misses one engine, but is listed as trade for a DB605.

jagdmailer, that's too bad about it not having much chance to make it as AI. Well, what about Blohm & Voss BV 138 or the Wiking, any chance of seeing those http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif??

Seriously though, even if it doesn't become flyable I would still be immensly impressed with its inclusion in the game.

I did not say that it does not have much chance to make it even as AI - AI may be OK. Just do not bet on a flyable version as that will not happen guaranteed......

I would be much happy with just the AI. I am waiting for an PM from Nils to get a progress report about his AI B-2 variant.

BTW, BV138 was started and stalled due to lack of resources - I think Majesty was working on it.

Also, an Ardo Ar 196 scout plane would be great to have as well.
