Oh my god, that has got to be the best WW II shooter I have ever seen. Looks very nice and the use of tactics seems to be very cool to. Wenn can we buy it, anyone no??

Looks like it will be something a little different. Intresting command possibilities.

Now does anyone know a good online bookie? I would like to place bets on how long before this turns into another rant on how we sadly ignorant imperialistic dogs here in the U.S. think we won the war alone and don't give anyone else enough or even any credit blah blah blah.

I would like to wager 20 on second page, 4th reply.

I like the Situational Awareness AI routines, the way they try to counter what you and your men do. Nice. If I do get this the first thing I`ll do is remove all those icons!

Slightly strange how one guy says his job is to make it as authentic as possible then another guy says his job is to make it fun. Isn`t that a contradiction when talking about an authentic WWII game? What`s the betting that Health packs will be there? (Too much emphasis on the word FUn as well - it aint a fairground!)

Ah well, looks good. I`d also like to hear about the negative side too though, so I can make a proper unbiased decision on whether to get it or not. I`ll wait for independent reviews.

Okay, this is about as close to hard-on I can get watching a FPS http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/heart.gif

The soldiers seem to be moving a bit too carelessly in the clip, otherwise I like this one a lot. A good, quick command system to control your (AI or human) team is really missing from current shooters, even the Rainbow Six series leave something to be desired.

On the subject of who won the war: the .50 cals of course, bouncing from the roads and killing all those Tigers... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

It looks promising. I hope that it strikes a balance between fun and historical accuracy. If it is too historically based, it could end up being linear and scripted. It would be nice to have some freedom to roam around in those fields off in the distance.

The game looks pretty impressive (and fun!), but I would quibble with a couple of things just from the demo as far as authenticity goes. First, I think it is very unlikely your in-game persona would be carrying both a rifle and a sub-machine gun. Second, the time to switch weapons and reload is too fast. Third (and probably least valid), it seems pretty unlikely that you would get an airstrike to help deal with such a small engagement. But, I understand those things are done that way to add to the fun.

Gives me the same feelings I had when I saw the first CoD trailer... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

EDIT: I must say though, real names of real soldiers, real places, real tactics... I hope it doesn't get spoiled by arcadish features like carrying two main weapons at once, uber fast reloading, run and gun, fast grenade throwing etc...

"Brothers in Arms singleplayer looks awesome, no doubt, but the big question is, what's multiplayer like?"

My guess it will be pretty much as mindless as most online multiplayer FPS fights. Most humans won't posesses a "SA AI" nearly as sophisticated as the offline AI... ;-)

"So when Diogenes perceived that he was greatly excited and quite keyed up in mind with expectancy, he toyed with him and pulled him about in the hope that somehow he might be moved from his pride and thirst for glory and be able to sober up a little. For he noticed that at one time he was delighted, and at another grieved at the same thing, and that his soul was as unsettled as the weather at the solstices when both rain and sunshine come from the very same source."

Woah. Looks pretty cool. I guess that's a winner for me.

Now i just wonder when the first game omes out of this genre featuring the german side. After MoH, CoD and this one, it's a bit boring to play americans in Normady all over again http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

that external situational view online is **** and no way to turn it off. Its basically cod with slightly better ai and larger maps. Im sure it will be a cheat fest as well unless ubi pays close attention to encryption the code.

Im definatly buying this over wartime command and pacific fighters. Hopefully they have the sense to add plenty maps COD has one of the shortest play lifes out of any games after 2 hours the games beat and online.

Even tho the ai looks good 1st person shooters are obsolete without drivable vechiles these days. Novalogic made a poor attempt with joint operations on implying drivable vechiles

It seems very simplistic. Just two teams and the only controls seem to be "go here" or "go there".

I'll stick with Hidden and Dangerous 2. Brilliant game. I can't wait for the expansion.

Looks good- some of Bungie's previous efforts have been really impressive (I liked Halo PC) and if they carry their attention to detail over to this project we should be in for a real treat.

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - G├╝nther Rall

Look are good, sound is hard to say, since the streaming makes it very low quality... I am concerned about several issues, includen the "one side", fast weapon switching and the "movie" style is has writen all over it...

I am still waiting for something that is not just a small step forwards... CoD was disappointing for me after the first 3-4 missions... (with a few mission exceptions) It is all too well scripted.. sounds and plays like rehearsed all the time.

What we really need is:
-More authentic situations and interactions (more natural too).
-Open ended
-Variety of missions, but all within an operation or battle.
-More RPG, dynamic squads and enemies. Dynamic battles/scenarios.

I would also like to see more armies: British and Allies, Germans and Axis and the Soviets. A game that starts on 1940 and expands to cover the next years. There is too much Normandy/44 stuff, but what happens to 1940 and the french, the greeks, the germans, the italians, the russians...

As a side note, Hidden & Dangerous 2 may not look as good and may not be a pure FPS, but it is a great game. Offline you have tactics, and it is well thought. Online it can be fast paced, )although limited in players and a bit laggy) and feels more real than CoD (time for switching weapons, amount of loads u can carry, equipment, time to heal, no "arcadish")

In any case, I am sure it is worth a try. The more they make the better. Just I hope they don't become complacent on the subject or styles...

*yawn*... The AI can't aim for ****.. That guy was out in the open, and he didn't even get shot at.

Not to mention they didn't add an auto-jump feature for when you bump into walls and stuff.. The dude giving the demo got stuck on a wall several times. They should have fixed that.

Also, you yourself can't tactically use cover, y'know? Like, put your back against the wall, and shoot around it, and stuff...

I think I'll pass on this one.

ok first off i can answer just about any question u have about Brothers in Arms, ive been part of the comunity for about 3 months now. if u check out there FAQ section in the message board, u will find most of ur questions answered in there.

for all of u that say its another "USA wins the war again" game then ur %100 WRONG. its a game (sim) that takes place over 8 days of combat. it is the actual events of this particular group of men in the 502. its a very specific game. not a broad spanninh game like CoD or any other WWII FPS.

Its starts out on June 6 (paratrooper drop into Normandy) and ends on the 14 of June (the attack on Carentan. just 8 days not the enitre war.

Multiplyer hasnt been talked about much but it should be along the lines of 2vs2 with each (human) player having a sqad of men under his command. so it dont compair it to CoDs run and gun ****.

oh yeah and all the icons are togglable, so dont worry. there will even be an "authrntic" mode in the game for all u Ultra realists.
