It worked for me at least...

I have an A7N8X, Athlon XP 3200, and radeon 9800Pro AIW. These drivers fixed up the performance in perfect mode that has been broken for me since the 4.2 catalysts. Your mileage may vary...

If you are nervous about betas I'd imagine the official catalysts should be out any day now.

Got some benchmarking tests (before and after) to show? I'm not convinced yet. I've heard 50/50 on results.

I didn't benchmark it (don't have fraps) so it's totally seat of the pants feel. But where before I was constantly dropping in the 15-20fps on perfect with the new water on 2 it now feels like 30-40.

If there's a way in game to display fps let me know and I'll check and post what i'm getting on one of the default tracks.

Oh, thats 1024x768 with 2x fsaa and 4x aniso and using rtool to force trilinear aniso on all textures.

YES. There is an ingame FPS counter. After the mission starts hit SHIFT + TAB key:
Type exactly like this: fps START SHOW
Hit the Enter key.
Hit the SHIFT + TAB key again.

Now at the top of your screen will be an FPS counter. I think there is a way to keep a log of it too... maybe.

Rick

Oh yeah. The command to turn it off is: fps STOP SHOW

Actually it's just "fps START SHOW" and "fps STOP" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

hmmmm, bummer...I have been trying them & I still get a lot of flutter which makes panning & diving on something very hard.
I get some artifacting flashing by while flying.
I get wierd bright box like colors around the edges of water also.
Ezxcellent is just as good so I'll keep these until the next set comes out.
But...perfect is still NOT playable on my 9700 Pro card.

Beta drivers? No thanks.

I'm using the 4.5 drivers with the 3.7 OGL dll. It seems to work ok.

Well, obviously there is a reason they are betas. It looks like they got some of the speed back at least, although lets hope they fix whatever is happening with the searchlight cones, because that kind of stands out as something bad happening.

I'll be keeping these on until the officials come out as I'm just too lazy to switch back to an older version.

Take the 4.2 .dll instead. It's better and fixes a bug with line antialiasing which appears when opening the map inflight.

It's just a problem with Perfect mode. Don't know whether you use it or not. Both the 3.7 and 4.1 have this one, but the 4.2 doesn't have it. These are the only 3 non-beta Catalysts that rum perfect without severe fps hit.

I've tried to report my 4.6 beta findings to ATI, but I keep getting a page fault..maybe I have the wrong link..
Anyone got a working link?
The excellent setting is great, but perfect is still unplayable for me.

After doing considerable changing around of ati & ingame settings I am able to run PERFECT fairly well as long as I have no more the 4 aircraft. I still get rapid fluttering when near those phoney 3 level type trees, or lots of water. The view out of a fast moving, diving aircraft will product the rapid flutters against the ground also.

In excellent mode it is "THE BEST" that I have experienced.

I do get some occasional artifacting while flying.

This all sounds a bit dodgey, ATI said the 4.5 had fixed the problem with perfect mode, but it was no better.
Im done with being a guinea pig hehe.
Will wait till I see pages and pages of praise for a newer driver version before I let go of the 4.2's
