No, it was not an April's Fools day joke http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm happy to announce that my first (hopefully markable) contribution to the IL2 community is ready and has been released: IL2 DGen Tweaker.

From the readme file:

ABOUT / FEATURES
================

- Tired of Jabo missions flying a FW 190 A5 in a fighter campaign? Does your Staffelkapit√¬§n always want you
to attack bridges in your Ju 87 G? Tell him to get lost since you have the ultimate answer...DGen Tweaker!
DGen Tweaker let's you edit IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles ClassesXXX.dat files which were introduced
with patch 1.11. The content of a certain ClassesXXX.dat file determines what kind of mission the game's
built in campaign generator (DGen) will create.

USAGE
=====

First of all, what's a ClassesXXX.dat file?

ClassesXXX.dat files are stored in IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles' DGen subfolder. A certain
ClassesXXX.dat file belongs to a specific ingame campaign, XXX stands for the campaign's abbreviation:
"DeZ" is German Zerstoerer campaign, "FrA" is French fighter campaign, "RoB" is Romanian bomber campaign.

A ClassesDeN.dat (German Army Group North campaign) file could contain the following lines:

BF_109F2 FIGHTER
BF_109G2 JABO

With a file like this, the ingame campaign generator should never create ground attack missions for the
109F2 during this campaign.

You can create and edit all these files manually, but...why? You have IL2 DGen Tweaker. It will let you make
the changes you wish without editing files.

Sounds like a nice shortcut, thank you... But, is there any way to add something so that you could also choose your armament for each type of mission?

I'm afraid that this is not possible, the armaments are not changable. I'd like to see more armaments variations during a campaign, too (especially for the German side).

Hondo, finally downloaded and tried it out. Some comments/questions :

When I first ran it I got a message saying "Il2.exe not found" even though I had AEP installed on my machine. I fiddled with the File Settings dropdown you had on top and somehow got the program to recognize the directory where Il2fb.exe resides, but it would have been nice for it to have recognized the directory from the start especially if I used the default directory.

Is there any way to have the default settings for the ClassesXXX.dat files show up ? For example have Bf-109 F2 shows FIGHTER as default in the plane type window or have the default button show as FIGHTER instead of NONE. If all aircraft show as NONE on default, it's hard to know what class I'm changing from and to. I might set BF-109 F2 to FIGHTER, for example, not knowing that the F2 is originally set on FIGHTER.

Thanks for the program once again.

@ Capt._Tenneal

One of the next versions will have a reviewed path recognizing system, either by using IL2's default folder at startup or by reading the path from the registry (I hope to code this in a more professional way than Ubi did http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif).

Actually, the game has only two ClassesXXX.dat files per default, one for the Romanian fighter campaign and one for the Slovak campaign. You can check this if you try out the "Reset to default" function: only two Classes files will stay. All other campaigns use the planes' hardcoded mission settings. That's the reason for nearly all planes in nearly all campaigns showing NONE: they simply have no Classes file, all planes in all campaigns have NONE (exceptions see above). I think I should explain this better in the readme file.

Did I make it clear? If not, ask http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
