With this new patch its nice to know that all you exploiters have to learn how to fly like the rest of us. I play with what the game gives me and dont try to reduce clouds or mess with the sound so I can hear people sneaking up on me. I think you will see new aces now as the real pilots will start to be recognized and the cheaters and exploiters will have to change tactics.

Who would you classify as a real ace? i wish more server did stat tracking like GAV and UK dedicated, thats rather interesting.... it would be neat to have all servers kill info put into one place, points to mean much, but the kills and how many times you have been killed might be a better indication of how good your doing...

ppfffffffffffttttttt

Most of us didn't have to tweak anything to hear people "sneaking up" on us or at least I didn't. That's the way it came/played.

Regardless of sound or clouds I'll still be aware of my surroundings in FR. It's called experience.

When Iam cruising along I can barely hear other planes. I mean you can hear them but its hard to pinpoint exactly where they are.

The best is to surprise them under the belly and keep the rpms low and sneak right up on them. This usually works on people that arent quite alert in the cockpit and dont look around much but then there are some you just cant sneak up on because they hear you coming a mile away and I find that very odd. Maybe I need to invest in 6.1 surround.

most people fly arcade anyway, where sound isnt a factor.

Most of the planes in FB are pretty quiet... Late 109s and 190s those are the loud ones, especially with supercharger on. I don`t think sound gave me any advantage at all, maybe because i am on the dark side hehe... and bullets would usually come in before sound hehe

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Aces, there are many thing that helps u on getting kills, in greater green server, there r some guys who seem to do pretty good like Goodknight, has a 4 kd ratio, witch is pretty good, but, he only flyes german, this guys only fly german, even ifblue has 12 players and reds only 4, it is kind like anoyying, they dont fly reds, because if they do they get raped by superior german fighters, it looks like greater green server is all set up for germas to win, there r some misions where germans fly 1943s planes and reds 1941s, i am like come on.... aces, na not aces at all

You really need some meds for that paranoia.

I wouldn't know how to tamper with the sound or the clouds. Or care to know...

Besides any resemblence between any DF Arena and real battles is purely coincidental.

What's funny about greatergreen (which is actually quite good) is that if a late war mission comes up, all the Hitler Youth decide they need a smoke break and disappear. Then they wander back when it switches to early war. LOL http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

LOL @ tttiger ! I haven't seen that 'cause I'm an externals-****. I'm playing a LOT more coops lately, since the dogfight arenas give really un-fun engagements.

Coops are where the REAL aces are. You FR studs can read that as "I shoot people (not just AI) down in coops and die fast in dogfights."

Yes, there`s adefinite bias for the LW pilots to favour early war servers... But there`s a good reason for that- they can`t beat the late war stuff . Ho. Ho.

They might have a chance with the sound changes though. I see it all now. Every Jerry staying way up in the air forever, looking for innocent planes. Then swoop, shoot- Gone!

The Blazing_Magnums and the BM357th servers both track stats and can be accessed via our site via the navigation link STATS (http://www.bm357.com/fbstats.asp).

The only thing to keep in mind is they are both Full Switch servers, which means you dont even get the speedbar.. We are updating the site with all kinds of info for the rare breed of FR pilots. Rules and such can be found, currently under the SERVERS navigation link.. More to come as we clean up the site.. S~

having a mp3 player on low adds to the game, even some of the good radio chatter mp3s out there along with some 40-50s music because just hearing the fake engine sounds gets very tiresome and makes the sim even feel more lifeless. But it is a good thing I havent seen people start to warp when getting on thier 6 only after they are hit fatally. So overall im very happy with the sound. But theres already ways around it to get external sound back on and im sure the rbj exploit fiends will use it as an unfair advantage like people using trackir beta drivers still. Nothing we can do about it but enjoy the game

Some observations I read about greatergreen are really interesting. Some are out of left field (to me) and some are right on. regarding the Germans having better aircraft, well, I won't deny that fact. It was done to increase interest in flying German aircraft. And, I must say, it has worked! We have since evened out the balance a bit, and will continue to do so.

German 'aces' leave when '44 maps come up? I haven't noticed this at all. If anything, the server gets busier, since most like to fly the latest and greatest. When the 1939 map comes on.. well that's when I notice the 'smoke break' :-)

Anyway, I appreciate the feedback, and please stop by the greatergreen forums if you play there and would like to share some feedback. I am more than happy to listen, and take it into account on future decisions.

Cheers,
Sammie

i agree with sammie. i dont like biplanes especially the p11c, because you cant shoot it down. i like late war because better weapons. i just wish that greatergreen had the g6/as, one of my favorite planes.

Many people on greatergreen have a trackir and fly good turning planes. it would seem that russian planes have the advantage because visibility is so bad in game from far away, it is hard to bnz. but easier to do turnfights on the deck in close proximity. As far as plane selection, maybe the germans are given later planes on some maps, but i think it all balances out in the end.

I'm glad the patch is out. I was recently accused of using the "speed hack" by somebody apparently sore that I shot him down. I don't know if there was lag or what, or what exactly he saw, but from now on he'll look a lot less legit when he calls people cheaters.

the P-11 gets owned in my WW1 server

the I-153P takes it down

you got to hit it hard for sure but its far from unkillable

i try to make a point to get airtime in the lesser flowen planes

VEF a few months back was excellent training

just E4s & E7s v LaGG41s & I-16s

awesome stuff

The thing I have always said about the sound is this.

If I am low and slow in a German plane, I should be dead (And am most of the time). If I dive in on a guy who is in a turn fight, he should not be able to merely hear me at 2k and turn into me to later stand on his prop and get hits on my plane as I zoom away. The sound issue has been there for a long time, and I am very happy that it is gone (For the most part).

It evens out the score now. No longer will allied players be able to just sit on the deck and bank and crank. They may actually have to come up in the air to fight (Or be target practice). Thus, we Luft fliers will finally be flying in our performance envelope.

Now the real chess match begins... It can only help the game, from all sides.

Thank you Oleg.

NOW, give us a complex DM for our 190's! I want to see oil windscreens, bullet holes, elevators being shot out, minor damage... Not just "Pop goes the wingie" thing!
