So how do I beat the P38? Against any good pilots I haven't found a way to beat the P38. If he gets anywhere close to being on my 6, its all over.

1. don´t let the Lightning to sneak behind you
2. if so, roll and dive. ROLL AND DIVE.

The screaming like a woman has been my usual reaction. The roll and dive usually doesnt work the greatest, they always seem to get right back on me eventually. Once I am on one, they cant usually shake me, but it seems to go both ways.

And how that happend, HE on YOUR six? Believe me,being in Fw190, it's much better when YOU are on HIS six (even better if you still have ammo for your schrekliche machinengeweren) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Well, although it's a fine bird, the 38J sucks at very high speeds, so let his elevators freeze when you dive and make a sudden high-speed brake-turn http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Or scissors. Rollrate on the Lightning isn't too good.

If you are too low to split-S and dive, your only option is scissors. This is dangerous against the P-38 because each time you pass in front on the Lightning that massive shotgun is taking potshots at you. Try using a little rudder in you moves to throw off his aim.

Its nice if you can gain a reversal, but, the main goal is to gain a small window of opportunity to cut and run. The 190A5 accelerates well from a low-E state using manual prop 90+ and WEP.

As others have said, the two things the FW has that the P-38 doesn't is a wicked fast roll rate and the ability to dive like a brick (and pull out safely). Use those to your advantage.

If you can sucker him into a dive he'll either have to hang back and try and keep his speed low or he'll crash into the ground.

The J has no dive breaks so use that to your advantage.

I fly the 190A9 usually, and 38L, not J seems to be able to hang on my six until I climb at > 400kmh, I didn't try it on a A5-38J combo though.

p38j and l are no match at all for any 190 in this game, its like shooting airballons, only air balloons are more of a challenge becuase you can clip a wire. Same goes for the p47 one burst its in flames and explodes seconds after its flamed where the p38s just break in two and spiral to the ground in pieces from a one second burst

warclouds44+ or warcloudstoh with the normandie map lots of p38s in there and 190s

Fw190 vs P38
You can roll and turn, don't B&Z, a good pilot in P38 who is good at B&Z and learn about it exactly can easily catch up 190 and control his speed, blow away by his super firepower in one pass. In fact, B&Z by P38 is more effective than Fw190 in FB, for its faster speed and firepower.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/34.gifBut you have much better turn and roll speed than P38, so T&Z in FW190. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/smileys-gun2.gif

Diving, turning, running and rolling seem to work well for me. So I guess if you fly with gear up and the engine on you should have little difficulty killing a P-38J.

Whoa whoa whoa, wait a second. You playing a different game here? P38 split in two with a one second burst? Are you actually trying to say a P38 isnt tough enough in this game? Are you really saying this with a straight face?

As for scissors, good pilots usually will climb out when I start a scissors, same thing, when I dive out they will level off early and keep alitude advantage. Am I gonna have a better chance if I get them down really slow and low? Right now at high speed they seem to be able to match any non-rolling move I make.
