Its a solid design Baldie. I believe he sells the plans and it is a Slot A - Slot B type of construction. Which makes it easy to build. Won't hurt. You've probably already seen mine. Once you have a dedicated cockpit no desk in the world will suffice.

The plans are free. It only requires two sheets of 1/2 inch ply or MDF. You are correct, no nails/screws/glue required because of the slots.

It looks VERY comfortable. Perhaps I'll stop wearing out joysticks with it (my desk is just wrong wrong wrong. I put too much of my arms wieght onto the stick which causes the gimbals to warp/wear out of spec).

I figured up the 'foot print' and it appears to be 5 foot by 3 foot. I didn't measure the height though (who really cares?).

Is it $35 for the pieces to put together yourself? WOW now that is what I am going to do if I can get the $35 dollars for one of those that would be cool. I think I will start building mine right now, my stepdad is a carpenter.

ScorpionWorm1,

Thats an estimated cost. Call around and find out what two sheets (4 foot x 8 foot (or 1200mm x 2400mm)) of plywood or MDF will cost. You can download the plans from the link I posted. The cuts are kind of complex, but your step-dad should have no problems.

A side note: I'm going to order 10-turn precision potetiometers for trim controls. Anyone know where a guy can find a large wheel that will fit a typical pot shaft? I'd like to mount the pots on the bottom of the arm-rest and cut slots so that the wheel protrudes from the slots, but I've never seen that kind of dial on anything but old radio tuners, and those are too small. Maybe I'll just get crank-handle dials... but they're $18 a piece!

How fast does it go?.. I mean, if I'm gonna sit in that f@#dup majigger it better haul A$$ is all I'm sayin'. Does it come in red? does it make a nice humming sound as you roll down the institutions hallway? Does it have a basket for my helper monkey to ride in?

I don't see any TIR units, I would expected that to be standard equipment, based on the many forums posts in its favor.

Looks nice, and solid.

Umm...what are you trying to say? Are you suggesting that wives might think this was...well, extreme?

After 20+ years of spousal tolerance, I'm afraid I'd have to build this in the garage. On the other hand, it might be worth it.

Looks great. Perhaps a few small changes though. Bugger screen for one, and closer in too. Also, we prop-heads would need to center mount the stick.

(My girlfriend would kill me for sure if I built this thing.)

Toss a bigger monitor on it, and move the seat-section closer (great feature!).

As for girlfriend: mount a subwoofer in the seat? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Here is a pic of my quasi-pit. The title of this thread is "Ergonomics" and while ugly, my rig IS ergonomic. It's comfortable and quite functional.

Observe the throttle is on the right and is upside down. I have the axis reversed and it works ok.

I have another over-the-shoulder pic with it in position showing the pedal location as well...if anyones interested.

Lastly, the monitor is a 19" viewable LCD (for some reason it looks smaller in the pic) and while it's large by most standards, I'm going to a 21" soon.

Sorry about the size. I saw it too late. I have a couple more pics of different angle too, but the good thing is that it's completely configurable to any position desired.

I must confess though...I got mine here: http://www.monsta.cc

it's amazing.

Its a nice setup. An interesting stick for left-handed use. I'm in the market for one.

Looks good Thunderbolt. When I first glanced at the pic, it took me a second to realize what looked different... stick on left, throttle on right as you say. Looks like it works well. I am left handed myself, but never had a stick that really worked well in the left hand like that CH does.

BTW, interesting bracket system you've got there, and even built to include the keyboard and mouse as well!

Check this out...

Who wouldn't want working guages? I would totally trash ****-pit view if I could have working guages like those offered to MSFS users. I'd even be happy with a glass-cockpit (guages placed on a seperate screen).

While checking out the lomac forums, I ran accross this tidbit:

"Added a data exporting tool for user-made cockpits, etc. Lock On will call Lua functions defined in the Config/Export/Export.lua script. Data export is disabled by default in the Config/Export/Export.lua script. "

So, the Jet-heads will be able to add working guages / or glass guages to thier setups.

WAH!

Velcro baby. Use it judiciously and you'll be fine. i use 4 2" squares on each controller and it works well.

I also have a CH Fighterstick and MSFFB2, but this one is the best one for left-handed use I've used to date.
