This is not a whine, as some of you may think, but just a pool to see some addictions that 109'ers may share /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
So, here we go:
A-Do you tend to fly all the planes you try in a energy style?
B-Do you have a strange affection towards the MiG-3?
C-Do you tend to be quite lucky in the deflection shots?
D-Do you use the rudder at high speed passes?
E-Do you try to fly other planes but end back to the ol' faithful 109?
F-Do you feel that the 109 has perfect handling, and all the other planes have "weird" addictions and handling?
G-Do you prefer the early 109's to the late war ones?
H-Do you think that the long nosed 109's are prettier than the Emil?
I-Do you know when you are overreving just by the sound of the engine?
J-Do you have any problems at all with the 109 undercarriage?
K-Do you like the adrenaline from knowing that you are sitting in one of the most fragile planes of the war?
L-Do you feel quite happy and proud when you shoot down an La?

Yes to all except maybe H, I think the emil is a nice looking plane in its own right /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Mmmm...okay i'll bite.

A - No.
B - It burns well but other than that, No.
C - No luck involved, matey.
D - No, but i've thought about trying it.
E - Yes.
F - No.
G - Yes.
H - Tough call...depends on paintjob.
I - I use Auto.
J - No.
K - It sharpens your survival skills.
L - No more than any other aircraft.

No

Yes

No. Luck has nothing to do with it. In gambling only the House wins.

Yes

- E-Do you try to fly other planes but end back to the ol' faithful 109?

No

- F-Do you feel that the 109 has perfect handling, and all the other planes have "weird" addictions and handling?

No. 109 has poor ground handling and gets stiff at high speed.

G-Do you prefer the early 109's to the late war ones?

I fly what is appropriate historically. The 109 F is my favorite handling 109.

- H-Do you think that the long nosed 109's are prettier than the Emil?

Only if it has no beule.

- I-Do you know when you are overreving just by the sound of the engine?

Yes

- J-Do you have any problems at all with the 109 undercarriage?

Yes

- K-Do you like the adrenaline from knowing that you are sitting in one of the most fragile planes of the war?

Only during jabo missions. During a free hunt you'd have to be doing something very stupid to get shot at.

- L-Do you feel quite happy and proud when you shoot down an La?

No. Fighters are easy to kill. Try taking down a viermot.

G. Do you switch to an external view just so you can watch that flimsy landing gear retract that funny way it does...first one side, then the other....

ps. or should I say undercarriage for you brits =D

No, but always carefully encounter that one.

I like the B-239 as alternative

No the 109 is really poor, but you have to handle it.

The Emils by a long shot (only on pre 41 servers)

Is the 109 pretty? The cockpit is pretty to me.

With the auto. Motormgr you can hardly overrevve the eingine.

No

B - its my favorite plane !

I'll answer from a 190 driver perspective.

A. Yes. I have PTSD from trying to turn in 190.
B. No. It's fragile, unlike my trusty Wurger.
C. No. I never see my deflection shots. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
D. This is an absolute must, I practice it alot and it has paid off. I don't know how anybody doesn't use rudder in high speed pass to fine tune shot or account for sudden change.
E. No, but I do end up back in my 190.
F. No. Every plane seems to have its problems at present.
G. I prefer the G-2 so I am in the middle.
H. Yes
I. 190 is auto, but I use manual prop pitch at 100% for added speed until it gets fixed. Don't notice overrev in 190.
J. No
K. I like the security of knowing I am in one of the toughest fighters in the war.
L. I like shooting down any plane but the Lavochkin does add a little "boost." I love shooting down planes with exaggerated flight models. Yak used to be my favorite now it is Lavochkin.

Just as a note, I sure do miss the engine whistle of the 109 in a flyby. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

nothin beats the Emil .. just wish we had a trop variant

not since i worked out you need to keep some throttle on up to flare and touchdown if you have full flaps out

Pe8 or TB3 is more of an achievement in a 109

Thank goodness I though I was the only 109'er with a Mig-3 affliction.

Other than that yes to all even though I still like the way the Emil looks.

One thing I noticed, when flying some emils then some F's, the squad symbol stays in the nose in the Emil(quite beautiful, especially the "pik as" one) and in the F's onward it's in the side, not quite stylish /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

-Do you feel quite nervous (scared) when you see those little polikarpovs coming at ya?

No just the ones that Are fast, unless I have alt advantage then even in a P-11 out of habit i try to BnZ but its more of 2 BnZ passes then TnB with the Russian planes.

No but I enjoy the performance of this plane... or used to anyways.

Late War ones, specifically the BF 109 K4

I loved it that way when it had really good performance, it kinda balanced it out, but now its just like the rest of the planes and is still fragile... ya talk about balancing it out *sarcastic look*

Answer I used to like flying the fragile paper plane that when flew right couldn't be touched but now people can touch it & oh yes it burns.

I don't look at the plane I look at the pilot, if I shoot a nobody down I don't feel proud, if its a good pilot I chalk another win up for me and smile.

But now I am proud when i shoot anyone flying an La7 down becuase they are better than what they should be.
