There is no way in this galaxy (far far away....) that a Imp Star Destroyer could beat the Enterprise!!! I mean, if the Enterprise can take on a Borg cube and win, the Imp SD would have no chance!!!!

I'm going to be real honest and say "none of the above".

I have never flown anything in my life, just like the majority of the posters on this forum. Still, my gripes with FB (as confirmed by those who have actually operated those flying things) are considered miniscule here, where everything is about performance data. The vast majority seems, by reading pilot accounts, that climb rates won the war, and use it as a convenient excuse when they lose at AirQuake....instead of following the gist of their heroes and making the best of what they've got (god forbid they'd try some variation, either in flyables or in sims).

So to conclude, my fav whine is what I just wrote. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

"better looking water"

And they gave it to us. Does anybody know if you can *see* ship reflections off real life ocean waves as perfectly as the FP screenshots? I am thinking FP is using grafix technology made to model pond water, not ocean water. Dunno. Just a thought. Am thinking that ocean water has a chaotic sort of roughness, unlike smooth pond water. Just making this up as I go along. Any experts on this here?

Anyway, they noticed over at sinhq that FP screenshots show bright orange ship decks reflecting off Pacific pond water. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif Think about it.

We got what we wanted. If the realistic ocean water is not realistic, the Devs spend half their time making water, and we spend all our money on Beta Test video cards, what is happening to us? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

]

That Is because they didnt install the button for retraction. The polish were biased towards cavalry, not retraction buttons.

The pilots however found that they could lose the wheels by bumping into cars, tanks or even enemy planes in flight. Although this reduced weight and smoothened the airflow, some problems with landings occured.
This was solved by a trip to england and flying hurricanes and spits instead. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

It`s got to be the `0.50s can cut destroyers in half` for me. I`ve had many a good laff with the m8s over a beer on that one! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

To be honest i try to steer away from performances of aircraft, because I simply don`t really know. I did a small whine on the 109 turning too well - but maybe they did. If I whine I try to stay on things that can help IMMERSIVENESS (like escape http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) in a sim, not FMs or DMs...

The Imperial Star Destroyer is overmodelled.

Vipez-

Hmm well, which Imperial Star Destroyer we are talking about ? There are infact atleast two Star Destroyers.. the older model, and the later, more advanced model with heavier shield, and blast cannons.. While the earlier SD might loose fight to an Borg cube, the later model would definately beat it. Unless Borgs hit for those Energy shields ( the two boletus' on top of the command bridge, as you all know http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif ), which is her weak point .. Both are represented in X-wing Alliance http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

To be serious: FW-190 Gunsight view has allways bothered me (and probably is going to do so for long time, my only hope is that BoB will fix this.. ), but then again I understand Oleg for leaving it as it is, as if the 190 would have proper view it would dominate the game too easily http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif ..

Vipez-
09-18-2004, 04:36 PM
That was just because the Death Star #1 was undermodelled.... luckily they learned from the past and built a better Death Star #2.. which was much harder to take down (it took two fighters to take it, while DS #1 only one was enough http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif )

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif I must apologize for spatting so harsh with you about the Fantasy planes. You made me remember something from last year....okay we know real pilots worried about clouds, Oleg should make Stalingrad sim with real time dynamic rubble. Infantry don't Whine about flight models.

But seriously, is the FP water so "realistic" that it has gone beyond realism into surrealism?
