Alternative title, "Who cares what you think?"

Hehe.

Anywho, I actually waited to play Unity until I felt it was sufficiently patched up for a good long time and so my review of the games is appallingly late. There's absolutely no one left in the world who is probably going to buy this game who would be influenced by my opinion and certainly not on these boards. However, if you want to read this long-time fan's view of the game, then I've included it here anyway.

As customary, the review is divided into spoiler and non-spoiler.

Non-Spoiler Review (http://unitedfederationofcharles.blogspot.com/2015/05/assassins-creed-unity-non-spoiler-review.html)

Spoiler Review (http://unitedfederationofcharles.blogspot.com/2015/05/assassins-creed-unity-spoiler-review.html)

I hope you enjoy.

Wait, your non-spoiler review says the game is a 10/10 but the spoilery review says it's 8.8/10.

Now I can't talk about Ubisoft about release-date blunders.

:-)

WHAT WILL I DO ON THE INTERNET!?

An 8.8. Interesting. Not as good as AC3? Super interesting. Is there a review for AC3?

Oh yeah, I've reviewed a lot of the series.

I'm currently playing Unity, but I just can't get into it. The gameplay is fun and all and Paris looks great, but...

Back in November I watched all the cutscenes of Unity and was not too impressed by the story. So I waited until I found a cheap copy on ebay and bought it, secretly hoping I would like it more if I played it myself.
Hah. Couldn't have been more wrong.
There is not a single character I really like. Not one. And i like the story even less than before.

I'm just too story- and character focused to like this game :/

Generally agree with most of the points you made in your review, but I would rate it lower myself :'D

I'm reasonably forgiving of any game which involves stabbing, parkour, and jumping off things.

You have to REALLY screw up for me not to give high marks.

I gave Rogue really high marks and it was a shameless rip off of Black Flag PLUS TEMPLARISM.

No no, I understand. Everyone has different views on things ^^
It also depends on where your priorities lie, if yours is gameplay then it's easier to look past the story.
It's the exact opposite for me though xD

But two thumbs up for the Rogue review

I'm usually a story man, myself, albeit gameplay isn't a miss.

It's just I don't HATE Arno either.

It's just he's kind of Vanilla.

Average, verging on good, rather than a GREAT Protagonist like Shay or Ezio or Edward or even Connor. Its by comparison to greatness he suffers.

Assassin's Creed: Unity is a game which has extremely fun gameplay, is absolutely gorgeous, is full of entertaining side-missions, and has a fun main character (by which I mean Elise)

i completely disagree except for the bolded part.

I'd love to hear your disagreements in-depth.

I enjoy discussion.

Well the gameplay is Assassin's Creed so I wonder why you're here, then. :-)

since you put an edit i will elaborate: I think the sidemissions were kind of generic content that didnt add much to the story. They're an excuse to make you sink more hours into the game. Compare to glyphes from AC2: completing these would reward the player with a clip about adam&eve stealing the apple and escaping first civ world, which was interesting to watch and makes you feel like it was worth the effort to solve all those puzzles.

Elise was an interesting character but she only showed up a couple times, also Arno was so boring i never cared for him. Finally, i agree gameplay was'nt so bad but since this game lacks a good plot or any atmosphere i would not rate it 8.8/10

We have invested loads of time and money into this franchise because the first games were brilliant. Unity IMO does not add anything to that experience, it just uses it to make a quick buck. Overall i think you did a good job writing that review though, but in my personal opinion the final score is way too high.

Really cool review and mostly sums up my thoughts on the game. Do you plan to go back and review the Ezio Trilogy games? Maybe even the Chronicles's games?

Oh yeah, they're on the list. I'm torn between reviewing the Ezio collection as one big review or doing each game individually.

I'd give it a 7, honestly. I'm very focused on story (I'm actually aspiring to be a writer for media) and in that respect Unity was a big flat dud. Not a single one of the characters excited me except Bellec, and even he started getting on my nerves pretty quickly with his constant stream of "pisspots." Elise was a flop too IMO, despite an interesting premise and great character design. She just wasn't around enough to leave much of an impression.

Combine that with an absolutely abysmal launch (which in my opinion SHOULD be part of the definitive review, it's absolutely unacceptable to release such an unfinished product) and a slew of generic content like Paris Stories and collectibles, and you've knocked off at least 30% in my book. The city itself and the new parkour were the only things that I actually considered exceptional.

I think you should review them separately.

How does all that justify a 7? If I had the same problems with the game, I'd give it a 5 or less.

Might you review the old Assassins Creed Aquilus comic? I know the modern Day is non-canon, but the Aquilus parts so far seem to be canon.

Sure, I can do that.

Also, because people asked.

My review of Revelation, though, I dread because...I will not be kind.

I really-really disliked that game.
