I recently sunk a ship with a Me-262 with 50mm gun. I think it was a russian trawl-class ship.
It didn't take many hits.

Then i must be lousy shooter http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif But .50's and Mk-108 should sink smallers ships with few shots.

As far as the game is concerned, you have to put quite a few shots in the same part of the ship to register enough damage to sink it, even with the larger calibre weapons. I've sunk a few subs with the 37mm on the IL2-3M, but it's hard work.

Sorry, I was wrong. It was only one of those little soviet Sub-chasing boats. I just did some experiments on crimea map (QMB). I could sink a russian torpedo-boat with Yak-9K. With the Me 262 I was able to sink German and russian torpedo-boats.
By the way I'm a lousy shooter myself. I used time compression 1/4 for those experiments.

Now I'm going to try with .50's and 30mm.
