The offical page has been a bit screwy recently, so hence the link to 3dgamers.

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Gunther Rall

Looks nice not as pretty as IL2 but I love the WWI planes http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I hope it has enhanced TrackIR support, I like it so much I don't like flying sims without it.

Might take a little extra effort to fly but I'll buy. That would be awesome if you can take command of ground AA like in History Channels Battle of Britain.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Yes it should be fun. My favorite is tight dogfighting. 'Full cockpit' in these planes is the only way.

I think the third party modellers should get a good jump on this and start working on the Meditteranean Pack.

mmmm

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif (1) The isolated trees seem to be grouped closely with the edge of crop fields than in FB (actually the FB isolated trees are not related at all to anything really just randomly dotted around thinly). Many more isolated trees too, in fact, possibly enough to not need the FB~esque abstract layered forest grafix textures. The isolated trees seem to build up the KOE forests by their sheer number, and this is infinitely more advanced then FB.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif (2) Clouds...total disaster. You can't even tell what kind of clouds they are--a basic first test of flight sim atmospheric grafix. Worse, no screenshots of planes above the clouds, which may hint that the clouds are abstract (and featurless) textures no plane can climb up to--Ye Olde US Navy Fighters had this cloud "Feature" I think. This may be confirmed by noting that the clouds look the same whether the screenshot is taken at ground level or taken at high level with airplane up high.

(3) Good:: Note the brown landscape strip a few kilometers wide that represents the Destroyed landscape of the front lines.

(4) Have not even looked at the planes yet but who cares we need a WW1 sim.

(5) Sun Grafic:: Better than the old DOS days, but that does not say much, and its not up to FB sun when Landscape Lighting is set to higher levels in FB grafix menu (or Landshading = 2 in FB "conf" file). One wonders how many FB simmers don't know about the shiny sun you get with higher landshade settings. Anyway, note the sky in KOE is not effected by the sun. The sun is just a blob with no brightening effect around it. Actually, a minor Whine as this Team may be less well Funded than Oleg.

WUAF, clouds and sky are what real life fighter pilots paid the most attention to, obviously. In fact, real fighter pilots spent more time looking at clouds and sky then their instruments. Well, the pilots that survived anyway.

Bomber crew, of course, spent their time looking at the ground, well, except for the gunners, at least the ones that survived looked at the clouds and sky all the time.

Man that Nieuport 11 is a pretty little thing.

I can't wait to take on some Alb.D.II's in that lil Bebe'

There is another possible explination for the "clouds", they may not have made the clouds yet at all. The sun doesn't look too bad, I'd say it looks more real than that bright thingy we have in FB/AEP.

I was going to say the same thing, I just love the Nieuports. The sesquiplane layout does something for me. I'd rather have that sim than Pacific Fighters.

Well, one thing is certain - any WWI sim has got big shoes to fill, the Red Baron 3D. Pitty I can't run it on Radeon. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I think that sky, sun and clouds and maybe even ground are not yet finished. Looks like they are very beta.

They planes however already look very good to me. They include the HP 0/400 and the Gotha. Good !
If they include then Pfalz DIII beauty I buy it anyway *drool*.
And I dearly hope the skins are open to the modders.
We have so many talent here in FB/AEP world.

But of course Red Baron II and Rowans Flying Corps is quite something to replace.
KOE would need a very good offline gameplay to better that.
