View Full Version : Re-arm and refill.

I hope it will be possible to do that in a future patch.
I does not take so long to do. Se below :

SPITFIRE v HURRICANE. Contrary to popular belief, it was the Hurricane not the Spitfire that saved Britain during the dark days of 1940. The turn-around time (re-arm, refuel etc.) for the Spitfire was 26 minutes. That of the Hurricane, only 9 minutes from down to up again.

Hov long fore a BF109 ?

Uhmmm, not an issue here. The way it is now in FB, you get up, shoot some poor B*stard's @ss, land and hit refly.

It is just a matter of seconds.

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye
shall be judged: and with what
measure ye mete, it shall be
measured to you again.

Pretty good idea Wintergoose! Gonna put this excellent suggestion on the Oleg's ready room forum, ok?

Thanks pretty much!

it would add to the game alot, just rearm and refuel. I think they said no already, but the scoring system is horable in this game, you even if you run out of fuel early and your engine dies you land fine it says you crash landed 0 points, a propstrike 0 points and they seemed to removed the great belly landing slide that the had in 1.1b

Assuming you're quoting an actual source of some kind, I'd like to know what is so different between the Spitfire and the Hurrican that the Hurricane has 1/3 the turnaround time of a Spitfire. It can't be different armament (i.e. cannon vs. machine guns) because the early model Spitfires and Hurricanes both had the .303 machine guns. Anyone know the answer?

This has been brought up many times and Oleg responded last winter by saying that he doesn't see the need for it , just hit refly ! Its in one of his post somewhere but the search wasn't working for me . But IMHO I think it would be great to have it in the game.

It could add a great dimension to the game.

Land with little fuel and no ammo. Biting your nails because you know there are incoming raiders looking to catch you re-arming and re-fueling on the ground.

Far more realistic than hiting refly. Even RB3D has refuel/arm/repair.

If it can be done easily, do it.

It'll be great! Oleg will model the true turnaround times for aircraft. Just imagine, landing your P-51 and telling the mechanic you broke the wire and pushed it past 100% throttle then settling in for a couple of hours whilst your engine is broken down and serviced.

I have to sit down, the excitement is too much.

And the Spitfire was considered to have a quick turnaround time!

You really want to sit on the runway watching little guns rearm/refuel you for 20+ minutes (unless you never fly anything but a Hurricane)?

Just hit refly!

Doesn't have to be 20 minutes. 1 minute will do nicely.

i also think that bombers should actually have a purpose, rather than dropping bombs and wasting a 20 minute flight to hit nothing, maybe if you had fuel tanks that impacted the planes amount of ordanance, and like be able to make the buse useless, change the war around a little http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

one thing-refly only works in a bloomin D/F server, rearm should be an option in single/coop etc maybe not realstic time, as old oleg "forgot" to put people in to do it, i think its a little silly the only people in the game are pilots and aircraft gunners, all other aaa/trucks etc work via GODS remote control, so why not rearm via remote control as well

you really want to sit 27 minutes on the ground in an online server getting your spit refueled while being vulched ???

The clue is <drum roll>........... its a dogfight server. If I want to simulate pit stops or whatever I will buy Grand Prix or something.

There is an alternative.... just pretend, taxi to your hard standing of choice, hit refly and wait 20 mins - see its easy.

The time difference was all to do with the number of wing panels the guys had to open to get at the guns.

The Spit had many more (I think it was about 20) compared to the Hurricanes 9.

Will check tonight re actual figures

Ok it's a great realistic idea that absolutely wouldn't work. Especially online.

Base traffic is horrible as it is. For example the other day I spawn in a BF-109 F-4, and taxi to the end of a Huge paved runway. Note I was on the very end of the runway I had gone beyong the taxiway turn off and then turned straight onto the end of the runway with my tailwheel 2 feet from the end.
This guy comes taxiing right out into the center of the runway, and then turns my way. Two other aircraft had just taken off in the other direction.
Anyway I say to myself no problem he has plenty of room to clear me.
First he eats up 1/4 of his distance to me by not doing a run-up. Thats where you hold the brakes, and let the engine come to full power. It shows you all about it in the tutorial .trk on Take-off's.
Still with flaps he'd could have cleared me. So here he comes in his FW-190 and he gets closer, and closer. It's beyond the point now where trying to evade would do me any good.
So I say maybe he doesn't realise I'm sitting here? So I fire a burst which flies straight up over him. Still he's coming on at me gaining speed. I'm like "PULL UP! PULL UP! AAAAAHHHH!" at this point. Sure enough he never even got a wheel of the ground, and boom! There I went.

People are sloppy in the air, but on the ground it's like rush hour sometimes, and some people can't keep it straight down the runway. Others don't realise there is a runway, and more couldn't taxi to it anyway if they did. They only get off the ground half the time anyway.

On a server between squadrons where everyone knows how to fly etc. It would be good though.
Even in VEF when everyone starts off all lined up. I have this immense fear of somebody behind me just taxiing right into me.

You do that when you land and in some game you don't have to take off just hit refly? Hmmm I don't see the point

Who's in disguise? im not. i simply changed my tag when i left JG11, i have never proclaimed to be or not to be anyone else. as for why i changed my tag, i was wanting to leave behind the old, and start new. i have freely given my old identities when asked, or are you still upset and worked up about a few truths i said when i quit jg11.

Konigwolf

ps i was until recently quite proud of all 3 squadrons i had flown with from WWIIFighers till now, but every now and then i feel less than proud of JG11? think on that!

Not at all Konigwulf. Truth is in the eye of the beholder.

Best thing you ever did was to move on. Funny thing about it Konigwulf is everybody else is as happy as Larry.
