The Comp-USA of Russia it would appear.
More power to them, that means the expansion packs, patches & new flight sims will keep coming.
Strange that it took Russian free enterprise to provide us with the best flight sim ever.

So it's just like same old story (around 1940s)

Most people in the world thought..
Russian airplanes s**k,
Russian tanks s**k,
and Russian people s**k.

But it proved to be they were best. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

LOMAC, best jet sim IMO, is also made by a russian developer. Maybe it is not a coincidence.

Lots of macroeconomic reasons.

Basically, you couldn't "do" 1C over here in the US, because engineers, software coders and artists would cost too much in salary and benefits.

1C is not Maddox Games

I'm more interested in how they have gone with IL2

It`s not that the Russians were better than anyone on anything. It`s just that they have had such bad press (obviously due to the Cold war, propaganda etc), that we were brought up ignorant and assuming them evil, bad and inferior.

All they`ve done is proven they`re as good as you and me. And capable.

Coincidence, I doubt it. Maybe they care about a quality product more than MS http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/icon_twisted.gif and think their customers want something a little more realistic than Novalogic. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

Considering OM and 1C:Maddox game, you know. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That was reasonable but stingy compliment for their works, are you English?

Yes, I`m English. Nice guess. It didn`t seem stingy to me, but a compliment without overpraise.

Must be an English thing.

"350 employees staff makes more than $100 000 per person per year sales."

Sorry, but that doesn't say much about how much money 1C makes. The profit on $35 million in sales, after deducting payroll, expenses, R&D, taxes, etc., could be relatively modest.

IIRC, software companies make a nice profit if they can keep R&D costs down and have enough sales to recoup development costs.

Bingo! The Russian people are a very inventive and forward thinking type. They were just oppressed for so damned long! I am glad to see them joining the rest of the world! ~Salute~

Someone posted a long time ago that original IL2 was sold in number of 300,000 copies in America and and double of that in russia. But i think UBI doesn`t cover russian sales... 1C does.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Wrong.
Maddox Games is a division of 1C industries, therefore, 1C: Maddox Games, is both 1C AND Maddox Games.

As in all conglomerates, the profit is shared by all divisions, wich in turns means that the profit of 1C, is also the profit of Maddox Games, for the share it was atributed.

Maddox Games was started in 1992.
In 1999, both companies were merged and formed a new subdivision, 1C: Maddox Games.

Interesting stuff...apparently FB did better than IL-2 did in most countries (someone on the forum said it - take it with a grain of salt http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) and I suspect that they are carving out their own nice little simulator empire. Most teams in North America are busy doing RPG's, RTS's, and FPS's so its nice to know that these guys can fufill the niche market and do well at it! I'll bet that 12 years ago much of this would have been unthinkable...an award winning flight simulator - from Russia! Lets hope things continue on for the better.
