I have just been playing fb and something happened where all the muzzle flashes only showed as white - both inside and outside the aircraft. I presume it was a bug as when I restarted the old orange+red ones were back, but for that brief few hours playing was fantastic - the white flashes made it easy to follow the silhoueted enemy plane when flying making it easier to hit nemy aircraft and genrally more fun to fly.
I wonder if anyone else has ever had this + if there might be a way of deliberately inducing this bug?

Sounds like the textures didn't load properly, and/or your graphics card ran out of memory for them.

Going fairly low level it would probably be possible to intercept/overwrite the textures FB loads into memory [as opposed to altering the encrypted files themselves], but I don't think anyone has started work on this.

I've actually played where there were no muzzle flashes, believe it or not. I've only had that happen once though. It happened the first time I played FB after installing 1.22,and I thought it was a fix from that patch. Unfortunately,it was not. Evidently it was just a fluke..... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

v. interesting clint+necro.
was great to fly a p39 and actually see what i was firing at! if this ever happens again I'm gonna just leave fb running continuously.
anyway, if anyone knows how to induce this would be interesting to find out.

I flew a Me-262 with no flash. That was a real treat. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Unfortunately,I have no idea how to replicate this phenomenon. Why not try to take some screenies to document your discovery? I took a pic of my 262 firing with no flash. I'll see if I still have it....

unfortunately didn't think to take any screenshots.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
happened after i installed il2 mat, but haven't been able to replicate. rather, i was wondering if anyone knew that since a lot of excellent 3rd party software has been written to effectively tamper with IL2 whilst running, if somehing which did target the flash images was achievable ??

Thanks. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Photobucket.com seems to have omitted some details,I guess because it was a fairly big pic. Anyway, you get the idea. The smoke(cordite?) was still there, but there was no flash.
