As im itching for a taste of the Pacific and cant seem to wait untill PF comes out i thought id fire up CFS2 again.

Being something of a spog when i originally bought the thing and completely unenlightned as to the ways of the internet and 3rd party addons i only ever dealt with the out of the box product.

So my request is this: can anyone recommend any sites where there are 3rd party downloadable or purchasable addons for CFS2? I'm particularly interested in Flying the Seafire, SeaHurri, FM-2 Wildcat, ki-44, ki-61 and some of the Japanese twins. P-61 and 39 would b great as well.

Thanks

Here is a great sorce of planes and files for CFS2 http://www.simviation.com/fsdcfs%5B1%5D.htm

Have never had any troubles with the files from Simviation.

Here is another site called Sim_outhouse. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/

Me and a few of our squad are flying in IL2 FB for now until PF is released, you are more than welcome to join us. We are looking for a few more pilots for our squad. Contact us here... http://www.lordsofwar.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=24

I strongly recommend checking CFS2 section of sim-outhouse.com forums. Every few weeks a similar thread like this comes up there http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
You will surely find some tips and links to "must haves".

P.S. - get Maskraiders scenery objects,"PacTexture" packs and Lindsay Watts clouds first. These are crucial for turning stock barbie-looking scenery into serious Pacific one. Then go for the planes.

ImpStarDuece,

The 1% site AvHistory has 101 CFS2 freeware planes & IIRC all those you listed.

This is a basic Quick Combat Campaign for the 1% aircraft, that goes over the 'history' of the F4F Wildcat. It sorley needs some revision, but its better than just quick combat. It has a few carrier landing, navigation missions in it, and most importantly-altitiude.
There should be instructions on how to make the ships bob up/down, and back/forth also.
Get the "flak fix" too!

I can't believe it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif I'm reading this thread.

Nothing is better or even close to IL2-FB-AEP http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif except the mission builder.

My suggestion... Build a few missions with the AEP FMB. Try all the many versions of aircraft in some of your own created missions. That should keep you busy and involved until the PF is available. In other words, get a little more involved in learning more about all the features of IL2-FB.

I'd suggest European Air Wars, Rowan's Battle of Britain or Jane's WW2 Fighters over CFS2. These old sims still have viable communities of users.

SimHq has a lot of activity on forums on these old sims (http://simhq.com)

The Rowan's Battle of Britain source code has been released by the developer. Serious changes are being done within the core software programming. CFS2 allows changes, add-ons, etc, but no changes to the core software programming.

CFS2 aerial combat always winds up on the deck T & B. Boring. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Nearmiss,

You left out one great game, CFS3.

Alright, just screwing with ya...LOL. Although I have really enjoyed my copy of CFS3. It make a great coaster to keep the water rings off my desk, also used for shooting skeet. Also the cd makes a great light show if you put it in the microwave and set it on high for a few minutes(not recomended if you like your microwave).
