Ok I just clicked by accident(and pure stupidity) on one of those outwar links. I haven't rebooted yet but immedialty started up ad-aware which did not show me that one thing.

Now i donwloaded pest patrol, updated it and ran it and a hole sh*itload of things come onto my screen i think it found like 80 coockies some from CGI which I know is there but some from kazaa and such.

How do i know if they are ALL hazardeaus. the CGi thing I know but what if I don't know something? but it could be a coockie from one off my regular forums or such?
or is pest-patrol a Fail-safe device?

Can't you delete them all? They're just cookies, right. The worst thing could happen is you'll have to log in a site again I think.

Sorry, m8, wish I could help. The last time I made that mistake was about a year ago and ended up just totally reformatting my PC. I learned a HARD lesson after that. It`s like what they say in life, NEVER touch anything that looks nice and inviting without checking it out first from a distance, ESPECIALLY on the net! Could apply to a lot of things, actually...

I hope someone can help you.

I just thought! Ask over in the tech forums. Maybe Hunter82, Luckyboy1 or some of the others will know.

Download Ad-Ware 6.0 here http://download.com.com/3000-8022-10214379.html?tag=pop be sure to update the definition list. If any of the adware/cookies/spyware is harmfull it will find it and you will be able to safely remove it. Great program...give it a try.

In addition to using Adware 6.0 I suggest using Mozilla www.mozilla.org (http://www.mozilla.org) as you browser instead of IE. Its Free and rated best by Maximum PC Magazine. Its far more powerfull then IE and allows you to manage cookies/block cookies from a selected site, eliminate popups, ect. I have not seen a popup in over a year if that tells ya anything.
While we are at it...I suggest using AVG free version as your anti virus program. It scored higher then both Norton and MacAfee. And its free to boot. It only bothers you when it has too. www.grisoft.com (http://www.grisoft.com)

Sure if you wanted too you could utilize you system restore feature. Depending on the alotted size you allow for system restore is related to how many restore points you machine creates. Anything you have added or done to your machine other then bios adjustments will be lost though up to that point.

another good adware remover, also freeware, is SpyBot Search & Destroy... v good.

adware/spyware is a menace, but with a few simple precautions it can me avoided entirely. a bit like AIDS in fact.

I made the same mistake. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif And I knew better http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif nI use spybot and adaware but niether found it yesterday. So I went and tried the Pest control thing It found even more. So I just went ahead and purchsed it. Between it and the other two free progs I have it clean again I think. I'm sure theres something out there they don't find. Because people are always makeing new things too screw us with. But once recognized as a threat they will update the programs as usual.

yup beeping.

It used to happen everytime i clicked a link,I ran ad-aware 6 and bye bye bleeping. now I boot up today and hello, they are back. but now it's only when the icons in the lower right corner are "loading" so when norton autoprotect is starting, asusprobe,ATI control panel....
those and pest patrol http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/smileys-gun2.gif to stop the buggers

Once they are loaded the noises stop. but it's still irritating.
BTW as i replied in the other post, it is NOT a POST error(Power On Self Test) during boot
it's while loading.

Yesterday I scanned my harddrive with adaware 2 found and destroyed http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

I come back today bleeps are back, let radaware run again... immediatly 2 more found http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

this is getting irritating

Since i'm 17 i'm considering to "donate" my allowence for 1 month to buying that pest patrol thingy to and let it have a frenzy on my computer.

The weird thing is,I'm one of the most carefull people when it regards my computer,i scan every week, defragment every week, I do maintenance every week and every week i clean my computer up for unwanted files.....

Dam i hate the makers of outwar
I'm gonna post a POLL please join me in this one...

it'll be named:
"Blocking "outwar"!!"

thx for the help so far guys
