Hi
first of all sory for my english :P, now lets go to introduction:
Recently i found cool shots form mars rover mission in...3d http://marsrovers.nasa.gov/gallery/3d/spirit/

This 3d method has name: anaglyphing. To watch it you need special typo of glasses red-(blue+green)

http://www.3dglasses.net/proview.jpg

The effecft of 3d sometimes is very nice. Now lets back to il2, i made 2 shots from game then i used photoshop and made

my self such photo. I will post it in general room in hi rez screenshots :P

Suddenly http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif my friend told me that gforce drivers can generate such picture. I have downloaded 3d driver control panel

form my 45.23 det. configured it and started il2fb:aep what i saw:

http://josiv.republika.pl/il2aep_3d_0.jpg
http://josiv.republika.pl/il2aep_3d_1.jpg

I thinked it was my hardware but i started old god ilsturmovik v1.2 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif which was still on my hdd and i was stunned (the 3d effect is bad because i resized screenshots to 800x600 original was 1152x864 )

http://josiv.republika.pl/il2s_3d_1.jpg
http://josiv.republika.pl/il2s_3d_0.jpg

Its awsom! looks incredible, drop of fps is noticable but what a view!!! But why it doesnt work in aep!! ??

Still it can be fault of my conf but i doubt...
I sens some issues in comunication betwean game, open gl and drivers.

Whaiting for answer!

ps. my hardware: gf4200ti 64mb ram, det: 45.23 running il2 and aep on open gl

This program lets you see through the cockpit??? Wouldn't that be cheating?

I doesn't really let you see through the cockpit...if you put on the glasses you see what you normally see...except that you have stereoscopic vision and things appear to have depth.

It's the same in page flip mode too.

Also present in 1.21 and 1.22.

Haven't tried it with ATI driver and E3D driver combination yet.

With the default 3D settings with nVidia and FB, landscapes will appear very nice in 3D in both anaglyph and Page-flipped.
All other objects such as external view aircraft, the cockpit, ground vehicles etc., will not look right because one of the images is missing. I can't remember if it is the left or right image, but one is definately missing.

You must go to custom graphic settings and untick both boxes that refer to 'Vertex Array'.
That will fix your problems with stereo view and the missing second image.

Also make sure you have the latest nvidia graphic driver and the corresponding stereo driver (56.64).

*** EDIT ***
To get the absolute best refresh rate from your monitor make sure that you have the right driver for it (if you can find one) and not the default 'plug and play' driver. I looked at the back of my monitor to get the make and model. I found a driver for it that was 2 years old (latest one I could find) and it gave me much higher refresh rates. in 640x480 I get 150hz whereas before it was 100hz, 800x600 from 100hz to 120hz, 1024x768 from 85hz to 100hz and 1152x864 from 85hz to 100hz. Everything above that and it's 85hz but goes down to 75hz at 1600x1200.

* Make sure that you definately have the right driver though as forcing your monitor to refresh rates it can't handle could damage it.
If unsure stick with the default 'Plug and Play' driver.

If you could manage to play at 800x600 with 120hz page-flipped the resulting refresh rate would be 60hz which is the same as watching NTSC television. 1024x768 at 100hz obviously results in 50hz which would be the same refresh rate as standard PAL television. The higher you can go with your refresh rates the better.
Of course this deosn't really matter if you are viewing in anaglyph mode as the refresh is not halfed as it is with paged-flipped LCD glasses viewing...

*** EDIT 2 ***
I have made an error. Drivers 56.64 are not stable for running 3D stereo. 45.23 are the only ones that work properly...

Is this when using OpenGL or DirectX for the rendering engine ? I keep getting IL2 / AEP freezing when I try to enable 3d mode with the 56.64 drivers in OpenGL.

I must offer my apologies, I have versions 1.22 and V2.0 (AEP) on my system. You're right. 3D seriously is not working in AEP. Locks my system up completely if it's eneabled. I must have only had it working with the 45.23 drivers because 56.64 Stereo causes version 1.22 to lock-up as well.
Sorry for building your hopes up.
I think maybe this is an nVidia problem and not FB AEP...

No apology needed. Think I'll try the 45.23 drivers and see what they are like as I cant get AA to work properly with OpenGL rendering in FB / AEP either....

Hi

In my 1 post i was talking about il2 sturmovik v 1.2 not about il2 sturmovik: forgotten battles v1.22 :P This very very old il2 sturmovik.

Scragbat thx for advice, turning of vertex shows right image (Green Blue), but it still doesnt work on aep.

After hours of tests i found that 3d view doesnt work properly on perfect landscape mode. If you turn on exelent landscape it work...but again partly http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Externals are ok but inside cocpit is realy mess http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I just ordered a pair of red/cyan glasses today. I'll have them next week. Should be cool to use these on my 29" monitor http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It seems that the left and right viewpoints are way too far apart, that's why the cockpit views are getting messed up. You don't notice in the external views because things are farther away. Is there a way in the driver to set this viewpoint width? I have an ATI card so I can't try it myself...

So Baldie ? what are the result for you ? is it ok ?
