Ship Ai dam it, i hate those dam ships going in just straight line while been atacked, whats the fun to torpedo, or dive bomb in a ship wiht no ai, if you set waypoints one against another ship, they will collide and both sink, now thats what a well diciplinated crew does, as pacific is ship war, it would be realy sad to have it wiht the same mediocre ship ai that fb has.... ship ship ship ai dam it!

Evasive maneuvers by ships would be a pivotal element of a sim like this. They couldn't possibly leave that out, could they? I want to see ships running S patterns... making torpedo attacks difficult.

Combined with this... it'd be great to see proper wakes behind the ships. They'd be easier to spot and you'd get a much better idea of their direction before attacking them.

There are proper and good-looking wakes. Problem is, they "reset", so that when you change camera to look at a ship, it has no wake behind it but suddenly begins to leave one.

Just started a thread on this, then saw yours. Anyway, here's the body of what I was asking/requesting:

Just wondering if anyone knows if PF Task Groups will be able to (attempt to) evade torpedos and/or dive bombing attacks. Specifically, the hard turns or the occasional DD intercepting a torp to save a carrier.

In the FMB, can I assign an escort ship to actually escort a carrier, and thereby do whatever it takes to save it.

Any thoughts or inside info??

so far for what i have seen in the videos, the ships have not take any evasive action on torpedos or dive bomb.............. lets at least hope that the ships do a soft turn at each waypoint, i trayed to recreat the zig zag manuber wiht fb in fmb, and the dam ships moved sideways, they would turn like the dam cars and tanks do, i got so piss off that i droped my atemp to do a maritime battle... hopefully at least at waypoints the ships will take soft turns, so if they have no ai, at least u can set the waypoints simulating evasive manuvers

judging by the smooth curvy roads in the a-20 update, they just may have that capability

I hope they do. Luthier mentioned there are going to be some interesting new behaviours for some objects in PF [though not everything everyone has asked for will be in obviously]. There is already AI in there since the original Il-2 to let tanks negotiate towns, convoys steer around destroyed vehicles on a road, etc, so it doesn't seem like an insurmountable problem ..

I don't know...the way tanks avoid objects right now looks more like my son's bump and go car - fwd full speed/hit object/turn 20 degrees/fwd full speed/hit object/turn 20 degrees...etc...
