bf110 was an easy target for p40s in NA and italy. I dont know much about the 110 but everything i hear read and see on wings show the bf110 as an easy kill becuase of its speed but hear nothing about good points from its dive bomb capability. Still I cant wait to fly it and cant wait to see some in greater green with some more medium and heavy bombers

I have seen the Discovery "Wings of the Luftwaffe" series about the 110, 210, and 410, and they suggest that the main thing all the Bf(X)10's suffered from was overdemands on specifications in designs. They wanted the plane to do too many things. And because of this, they were adequate in a few things, but never really excelled in anything, except for night fighting, of course. On the Eastern Front, their ground attack ability was fairly good when the Luftwaffe had air superiority. For a really good ground attack plane I would prefer the Hs129, but I would gladly take the 110 in it's absence.

In historical arenas like VEF for example, the one thing that is missing for the OKL is a viable ground attack aircraft through the mid part of the war. The Stuka just doesnt cut it, especially against the IL2!

I remember a post a long long time ago where 1C was asking for input on what aircraft people would like to see added into the game (IL2). I thought there was large number of requests for the 110, but I guess it just never got the backing necessary. Those cockpit pics in the update section are so nice, it brings a tear to me eye. I cant wait to fly it!

A lot can be said for many planes of WWII, but come on.. the Bf110 was the sexiest by far! (Although it was fodder for sure)

Does anyone know if any flyable ones still exist?

BF110 was in the early Wartime a deadly Plane for most enemies; it was faster, climb´s bettter and had a one of the biggest firepower at that time ! So the "zerst¶rer" was born and it was the only Fighter with long range for the Norwegian raid against England . In the mediterrian it do a quiet but effectfull work all over the wartime.

Sure in the BoB it´s speed and climb advantage was lost to the spitfire and it also was used for things which it was not designed for ;Bomberescort.

Later the 110´s F´s and G´s became one of the best Nightfighters against Harris´s Bomberfleet.

On the Eastfront it was used for groundsupports with heavy armarment and Loadouts.

So; not all things of an airwar belongs o dogfight and Bombing.

sry, but I simply love this Plane and it´s light design.

The 110 was a great plane. It was used for the wrong purpose quite often. Yes it was much slower than it's opponents, it can't roll at all,... it's the only fighter which needs escort lol. maybe it should not be seen as a fighter? I think the name destroyer tells much more about it. As someone already said it was a great nightfighter and until the end of 1943 the US bombers had serious problems with 110s until they got escort along to whole way then the 110s had to be withdrawn. I just read in Galland's book about 110s attacking B17s and there you know why it was called a destroyer. Just imagine this plane with all its guns and equipped with rockets attacking a bomber formation. Or the 110s in the East attacking groundtargets with bombs and heavy cannons. I mean it had more firepower than the IL2s and it was faster. If you really want to use it as a fighter vs other fighters you have to be pretty good and lucky, if you just want to go and destroy stuff....well that's what it's good for. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
