will Myst rvelation also be released for the Xbox and will it be payable on Xbox-live???

I know this has been asked already and is being considered by the Myst IV Dev Team ... though we have not heard any definite answer as of yet.

Perhaps the ending has not yet been written!

I can say with 99.99999999976859% certainty that you will *not* be able to play Revelation on X-Box Live.

Now,whether it will ship for the X-Box, I can't say. However, it's been stated by Pat that a PS2 port will not be possible due to a lack of power on the PS2's behalf to run the engine.

I already discussed this with Pat when I asked him about Prince of Persia ported from various consoles. He said:

quote:
Actually, they had to do that for technical reasons (memory limitations prevent you from saving anywhere on PS2), but that is not the case on PC. So NO, we are not going down that route with Revelation.

So I assume no Console. Which is for the best IMHO!

It's not the size of the game that would pose problems, but rather the fact that the game's engine is far too demanding for the PS2 to handle. It'd be like trying to run Uru on a Pentium 100 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Are you saying that a PS2 (approx. 700MHz I think) to Revelation = a 100MHz to Uru? That makes Revelation's system requirements much higher than Uru's. I thought it was lower!

Hey Alahmat, what happened to your display image?

hmmmm... Rev may have a higher toll on the system with all it's image processing, but somehow i doubt more than uru. i think perhaps the way the PS2 system is sturctured internally makes this kinda of novel image processing programming require a lot of processing power and RAM or maybe it just wouldn't be able to handle it at any comparable speed.

isn't alahmat's pic the same as always, or is one of us seening things? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif i noticed you changed yours again EMS, mountains look neat!

Ahh yes Alahmat's pic is back now. But it was broken last night.

Hey thanks for noticing Matt - Yes I like to keep my background up-to-date with the latest fad. I think I'll go Serenia next time!

Eep I'm really embarrased by this. I just had a close look at Alahmat's name and found its actually ALAHMNAT with an "N". All this time I've been saying Alahmat!

Very sorry! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
The really embarrasing thing is - I did a search of the forums for "Alahmat" and almost all the posts are mine! (eep http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif)
Sorry ALAHMNAT!
(I seem to have a problem with the letter n - for a long time I typed "Ahonay")

oops! sorry Alahmnat i did the same!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

yeah, n's often seem to be snuggled in secret places i tend to miss! an 'mn' likes to regularly pass off as a 'm' for me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

now i know better!

You are all talking about the PS2. The only problem is I have an Xbox!
Thereby I believe the Xbox is more powerful comparing the PS2?!

Yeah, but "power" isn't the only issue. Another issue is resolution (consoles have MUCH lower resolutions than monitors unless you have a really special TV), which has important consequences for the graphics and especially on-screen text (you can't read much on a console screen). Plus I believe that there are differences in memory management... at least I've read some things that suggest that.

My point is just that it's non-trivial to release a PC game for a console -- regardless of which console it is, considerable redesign is needed for the port. Since we haven't heard anything yet about Revelation for Xbox, I would guess that it isn't currently being worked on. Perhaps they are waiting to see how sales are before deciding what to do about a console release.

Are we all in agreement that consoles are generally NOT as good as PCs, particularly for these sorts of games?

Because I just had a heated hour-long MSN argument with my friend about console-vs-PC. Grr.
Myst on console just isn't the same. You need to be able to sit close to the screen, turn off the lights, turn up the sound, and play WITHOUT A JOYSTICK!

They released Exile for the Xbox.

(nobody had mentioned that yet, I don't know if a) because it was far too obvious, or b) because people didn't realize)

My guess is, Revelation will get an Xbox port, around 6 months to a year after it's released on PC.

Exile sucked on xbox. It got like a 6.5 . That means rev. might suck on xbox too.\
