How important is it to you that you fight over an accurate map, with accurate, historical conditions for victory and mission structure? (This applies to offline, co-ops AND online DFs equally, since all of these can be set up to be more or less historical)

I voted "very important"

I like to have the accuracy as the default condition, then any 'what if's" are just options that I can take or leave depending on how I feel.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif At it again? Dude, you are one poll loving guy. Ok. I like historical matches at least 70% of the time. I do online and offline. Sometimes it is nice to match different planes sets to add variety to the game play. Let's face it after a sinlge player campaign over hundreds of missions, it is nice to power up the FMB and play with the different things Oleg has given us. I am just glad when I paid my dough "I" decide how "I" want to play the sim. Freedom of choice is so beautiful isn't it? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

BTW, Stiglr you seem to be an angry bloke, maybe we could all picth in and get you an, well "escort" for a "sensual massage" to help release some of that built up "tension" that you seem to be experiencing. Let me know and I'll start a fund for you. JK http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Voted "VeryImportant" but, hey, if I want to build a Burma mission (Luv them Brewsters!) , the Crimea map does fine as a substitute.

Yes - I use that map for AVG missions also..
a couple of Brewsters in RAF drag..
a couple of P40's in the AVG skins
etc..etc..

I voted the last option since it truely represents the community view (see HL).

Baldie, while that may be true, the question was what is important to you, not the community in general. How do you feel about historical accuracy? Don't let the community decide what you like, brother.

~edit:
I do, however have to disagree with Stiglr on one point- offline will always be a free-for-all as the general rule, regardless of how accurate the sim or game is. The historical exceptions would have to make the exceptions happen. The average online gamer has the mentality of a 15 year old (and very moody) boy who can't find Texas on a map of the US. Making them more intelligent and insightful is beyond the scope of online gaming, I'm afraid.

To all the 15 year old boys who took offense: http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif that's T-E-X-A-S. It's big, can't miss it...I hope http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

I think at least Baldie's being honest.

I'm seeing some interesting trends in my polls.

Most pay lip service to accuracy and history, but still create utter dweebery in the DF and co-op arenas. 90% ueberplanes, and wherever we can shoehorn a P-51 or P-38 in.

If people really did value these things, the hosts would author them that way, and people would populate them. I'm here to tell ya, it doesn't happen.

An edit for Chuck:
I do not believe that we can't have more intelligent online play. This is like "network TV"; universally crappy and tailoring to the lowest common denominator. People said we couldn't have quality series on TV, and look at HBO. Almost everything well written, well produced, well acted, and with intelligent plots you can't always see coming from the second installment.

very imoprtant, cause a simulation should simulate the history situation too ,so that we can feel the atmosphere, that pilots felt in ww2.

Well, I could argue that that is typical of the entertainment industry: quick gain for little effort, but I see your point and it's well taken.

As far as HBO goes though, after Band of Brothers, I cancelled it, because they mostly play bubblegum crap from my point of view http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I get basic cable and it's very over priced in Boston (home) so they can kiss my sweet [expletive deleted] http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

i want FB to be able to allow me to engaged in Air Combat

it should never , ever , be limited to only what engaged together in WW2

i want to be able to host all different types of missions flying all different types of planes

so does every single FB player on earth except for Stigler

I voted "somewhat important". I do like some maps, especially the online df ones, to stray a bit from reality just for some fun.

"Somewhat Important" as I do like the historical aspect very much but occasionally Ill throw something funky in just to mix it up.

I never fly on df servers.

Hey, I'm all for an *occasional* exploration of "what-if"; but EVERY SINGLE online DF is what-if, and bears NO relation to any campaign ever fought, or even imagined. Simply because nobody has the self-restraint to do that (stay within theatre just *half* the time). It's human nature, of course, so I fault the developer more; they should have more structure in the sims, so that it's much more likely you'll get some believable action, and LESS likely to get P-51 vs. Ki-84 with a 109 in the mix, over Smolensk. Even historical 75%, what-if 25% would be a huge change.

That brand of silliness is what totally kills FB.

Voted for 'Very Important'. I only play offline, and like to fly and build missions that are as historical as one can get. For me, that's where the fun is.

I like realistic missions, but being historical they do get frutrating from time to time. When that frustration gets to much, I like to relieve the stress with some mindless blasting of anything that moves http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I picked the middle option. Yeah, I know, I'm a fence sitter http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Bump for those who missed it.
