View Full Version : Dear Mr Oleg Man, about that 109z

I love this game even though I dont care one bit about "historical accuracy". I've only been playing flight sims for about a month now and I think you have made a really quality product. I especially love the 109z. Its a fun plane and when I have my friend come over we sit here and take turns seeing how many kills we can wrack up with it. Just 1 109z against 16 enemy planes. Its fun to get blasted in half too and hope you survived to bail out. After I showed my friend that plane I almost had him convinced to buy his own copy. I'll get him soon. Keep up the good work, just wanted to let you know not all of us are too stuffy to appreciate a fun new toy and thanks for thinking of people like me.

Same here.

Really like the 109Z and Go-229, very pleased that they were included.

I hope that lovely gyrocopter model makes it into BOB too :>

I`m not such a big fan of the 109z (the twin 109?), because it seems a silly plane that was really just an idea. The GO229 I much more like because it was on it`s way to really fly (and I think it did fly didn`t it?) so I can imagine that being up there in `45. It`s a pity that it seems the AI GO229 doesn`t fly in the offline Campaign. I`d love to meet it as well as the ME163 as an Allied fighter. Maybe it is there...? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I like 109Z i could kill 100 boogies at one fly. Its very difficult plane to fly and i fell its very historical. Oleg plz make more planes like 109Z.

Bf 109 Z, an aircraft which never flew. It is a big step to turn FB into a real arcade flight game (like crimson skies)...very sad http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif
when will we see the S√¬§nger Orbital bomber and the Focke Wulf "Triebfl√ľgel" ?

I don't think there'd be much difference between Crimson Skies and the way the typical ORR whiner wants their p51, bf109 or fw190 to fly :>

I have to agree with VVS-Manuc here, clint-ruin. In my view Oleg`s made a mistake putting the 109z in this sim. It has lowered FB from `Sim` and closer to `Arcade game` (first time I`ve ever called it that). But of course I won`t give up on it. I just hope Oleg will no longer pander to any more silly fantasy ideas. Yes, have the aircraft that nearly made it (like the GO229) and even `what if ` 1946 scenarios are not a bad idea- just that 109z is.

It is sad to see the kids of FB have managed to persuade Oleg to do this... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif

Anyway, I`ll fly the Sim first before I give any positives or negatives on it.

You don't like it, don't fly it !
Why even talking about that ?

I'm really pleased to hear that this plane bring at least one new player to this sim. I'm not sure those kind of statement about "arcadish" stuff will ever bring anybody to fly Forgotten Battles.

To go further, don't you think we don't have all the possibilities to customize this game the way we personnaly like it ?

We can set the planes we want in server planeset, restrict every difficulty settings to the level of challenge we want

Why do you want to impose to others the game you like and don't respect what other people like to do with it ?

This is disrespectfull (at least) for everybody who don't like Forgotten Battles for the same reason you do. I just think that every person disserve full respect whatever he is flying or whatever he want to do with this game.

Don't take it personnal, this is for all people around who are thinking the same as you about what should be in or not.

So, since, according to you guys, it's not possible to implement a realistic FM for a plane if it has never flown before, that must thereby mean that modern aerospace design techniques which include flight testing in software only (you know - a sim) and fixes and redesigns long before any parts are ever made, is totally inaccurate. Wow. Scary thought. Almost makes ya wanna stay away from all planes then, doesn't it? lol

Who asked you? You call us kids?

I addressed this thread directly to the Oleg and it was intended as a compliment and a thanks, not to spark yet another discussion between liberals and conservatives. It wasn't a poll, it wasn't titled "Hey do you guys like the 109z?" Nor was it posted in "General Discussion" which seems like the proper home for such debates.

I feel bad for contributing to the bickering by starting this thread now.

I have the perfect solution to folks who don't like certain "what-if" planes to appear in their games: Don't fly in DF or Coop servers that include it.

That will do it, surprisingly. Good luck to you all!

Actually, I believe these appeared because 1) a modeller want to do it and 2) Oleg wanted to experiment with the capabilities of the Il-2 engine so that he could put ideas to work in BOB.

It's all good!

I wonder how many people here have flown in the Boeing 777? Been in service since 95 and was completely designed on computers. AFAIK most of the major flaws in the deign were fixed before it was built, and only minor ones were found after flying it for the first time.

Like BlitzPig said, if we have the technology to build and flight test an airplane virutally, why can't we extrapolate the FM of a 50 year old warbird?

The bf-109Z-1 flew, it combined to F fuselages and proved the concept, it was unarmed (though some reconstructions show 5 Mk-108's and 4 Mg-17's). The first proposed production version was the Z-2 and combined two G-2 fuselages.
Work continued using H airframes and eventually the ME-309 was twined into the 609.

Su~2 possibly? If so, and Fb109Z was experiment, I am Happy to be lab rat.

With all due respect to the accuracy that Oleg brings to this sim, how accurate would a plane such as the Su-2 or R-10 really have to be?

It's not as if they'd be capable of dogfighting or executing extremem manuevers, getting the airspeed, climb, and handling reasonably correct would be more than sufficient.

Ah well, perhaps when the BOB Engine returns to the Eastern Front?

A 7-yr. plan, good. That would allow the IL-2/FB engine to be made for different theaters of the war, making it the wide ranging WW 2 flight sim of choice. And by the time the BoB engine comes out, we get to do it all over again. If all goes well, I'll be flying 1C:Maddox products until my retirement.

then the next 2 years after that another expansionw ill be released which will give it 250 planes http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
