View Full Version : DetailTextures on shores are heavily distorted..

Hi Oleg!

I would just ask if the detail textures that are applied along shoresides under "perfect" settings could be correctet in an upcoming patch. They show kind of a line-pattern, which leads to moire and thus to (horrible)textureshimmering.

some screens:

http://www.ystart.net/upload/20040206/1076080201.jpg

http://www.ystart.net/upload/20040206/1076080258.jpg

System has been checked, multiple drivers have been used, FSAA/AF Settings have been testet, Fresh installation... test installation on a second system and I asked in the german tech forum.. also other person have these issues, so I guess its game-dependant.

Thank you.

I've seen this too, though it does not upset me as much as the lack of fish.

If you have time to be noticing that, I now know why you've just made that big splash in the water.

Put less priority on the silly eye candy and more on your flying skill.

This splash was done intentionally, was the fastest way to grab some screens from a short distance.

Don´t know what your personal attack should be for. I was just asking a question about an aspect of this sim that greatly reduces the image quality.

XyZspineZyX

That wasn't a "personal" attack. A lot of people get all wrapped up in the eye candy and can't see the forest for the trees, so to speak. Just sayin'.

I'd say it's a rendering issue with a set of drivers that might carry through multiple versions but who knows. I don't see a problem with him asking to find out though.

I've heard it's an ATI thing; I have it too.
I guess my sentiment mirrors Stiglr's, it doesn't really bother me. "Perfect" mode is still so beautiful to me I guess I only see the cool stuff. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Ok. Peace http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But wat´s wrong with reporting graphical glitches? At least they are things that can bee seen clearly, in contrast to the rather "diffuse" FM/DM things, where often its more a question of personal opinion. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The GFX glitches are there, and they distort the IQ greatly and they apply to ALL of the maps and ALL of the planes. So i think its some important stuff to be fixed.

No, its not an ATI issue, look at this screen, capped on a machine with a GF4 Ti4600:
(and yes, also this crash was initiated intentionally http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )

http://www.ystart.net/upload/20040207/1076150467.jpg

The line pattern can clearly bee seen, although the overall texture quality is a little blurrier.

My guess is it must be a driver issue - I've never seen it.

I've seen it...some kind of transition thing between the pixel shaders in the water and the flat textures on the land probably.

There is nothing wrong with reporting glitches in the graphics engine.

Just ignore Stiglr, he needs to pound his "historical correct" chest and tell other people what is important to them regarding this game. (Oooh, sorry...Simulation)

A driver issue that shows on BOTH NV AND ATI and over multiple sets of drivers? Highly implausibly IMHO.

*bump*

a little bump according to the dimension of this bug. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (affecting all maps & cards etc)

maybe some official statement about this issue?

blabla0001

It looks like a game engine issue but looking at this creenshot from the P-38 in the Ace Expansion it looks like it's fixed.

http://www.il2sturmovik.de/ss_fb_dev/02-12/P-38_4.jpg

But indeed, an official statement would be nice.

Old problem my friend. Debated over and over, never solved though.

All we can hope is things are going to change any time never-too-soon. Posts like this might help.

I noticed the different shore line from that picture indeed: the surf looks also more credible...

But what's in the back-ground, the "solid tsunami wave" still there?

Hm. maybe its fixed, but maybe its only not visible because the sand shore of this map (where no detail textures are applied that could be distorted).

Let´s hope for the best http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have noticed this as well. You should try disabling all extensions in il2setup.exe and see if the issue goes away. Then enable them one by one (with texture compression OFF)

Russian aircraft require skill to fly.
German aircraft require ten times that skill, and one hundred times the patience!

addendum: I Checked the online8islands Map.. there are no such detail textures on the shores on this map.. so the screen cannot be used as an indicator if it is fixed or nothttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
