Me and buddy just tried climbing up to 8000m to engage GM-1. All that happened was that Mw-50 engage, which fried the engine in about 4 seconds.

Another odd thing, at about 5000m my wingman in a perfectly good Ta152 started loosing speed and climing ability even at 110% + Mw50. I was taking off like rocket ship while he was hanging on the prop.

Any news?

9000 meters is the GM1 altitude http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think you engaged mw50 with full throttle. Reduce throttle to 0% then engage mw50 and fly with more than 100% otherwise it won´t work.

What is the service ceiling for Ta152.

The book that I have says 13700 for Ta, and 12500 for a mustang, and the difference doesnt seem that great, I guess TA handled much better up there?

I believe its in the excess of 14, 000m. I'll give you exact figures once I consult my references. (Books not net)

I find all planes hard to climb from alt 0m on let's say 10,000m, it takes long time and you have to know what u are doing, or you'll fry engine(mess up with mixture on LAseries http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif, or supercharger/MW50 on 109/190/Ta series. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif). And also it is reccomended to apply combat flaps in order to climb better(after 7,500-8000m).

MW50 engage only at 0% throttle, after that u can forget about it. Like purzel08
mention above. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

One more thing - if you have MW50 engaged it will stay on even as you ascend into GM-1 territory. To activate GM-1 you have to turn off the MW 50 and then turn on the GM-1.
As noted either type of boost must be engaged with the engine at idle speed (though I've rarely had a problem as long as its done under 100%).
