I am starting to learn this bomber.

I'm finding it extremely difficult to manage all the roles.

Any tips?

Recon, get yourself trimmed up for level flight well in advance of the target so that when you engage the Level Stabilizer, you will lose a minimum of altitude during the bomb run. You can/should set your sight up before even taking off so that you're not distracted by that chore on the bomb run. Engage the Level Stab at the last minute to also mitigate any changes to the settings that you've entered into the sight. With a fairly level run. all you'll need to adjust during the final seconds is the airspeed, to keep the cross hairs on target. You can also use rudder trim to adjust latterally.

Practice, practice, and practice some more.

Razor,

Nice explanation. I'll have to try this myself later. I've avoided the He-111 for level bombing after a few frustrating attempts. You make it sound easy. LOL.

Use it like a stuka and dive bomb, the scope is too much of a pain just to drop 5 bombs on which have to land directly on a tank

Being an avid bomber myself due to the stress of trying to not be shot down in you big flying target, I recommend the link posted before this on the bomber techniques. Excellent work, you usually are adjusting the altitude more than the airspeed, in "Level stabilization" mode it drops about 100 m every 20 secs or so. Once you have lined up the target and are following it for a few seconds you hit "target automation" ( or something like that) and the crosshairs follow it on their own, according to the last input of "altitude & speed", if your plane fails to hit the target it's because you hit that automation button too soon and the plane dropped 50m, therefore you r bombs will over shoot. I wait till the last second and the bombs drop right away. Another technique I was trying the other day was dive bombing in a Heinkel HE-111, believe it or not I was up to 10000 m and then dropped down

I'm an avid H-111 pilot online. I love flying it 50ft above the ground thereby avoiding most of the highflying fighters (I also take the 'long way' to the target and back, not just straight to it where all the fighters are lurking). I've also given up on level bombing because trimming isn't the easiest and I usually pay too much attention to trimming instead of bombing! (*hopes one day Ubi will fix this*). I now ONLY bomb from about 100-200 ft with a 10sec fuse delay (depending on the target - if its moving, then up to 5 secs). That gives me enough time to get the heck outta there! I'm eagerly awaiting the B-25 and future bombers. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

ps. there's nothing better than extinguishing 1 engine and nursing a wounded bomber back home to a 3 point landing! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks guys!

Anyone know if the B25 system will be similiar, or something all together new?

using my rotary trim doesn't seem to work when in level mode.

anyone else have this problem?

Well said. I'm a dedicated online He-111 pilot and that's pretty much my style.

I fly offline mostly using He111 H6 torpedo.
I set up a couple of missions in fmb - and it is a lot easier than level bombing.
Just set the bombsite at 85 deg. prior to takeoff - get down on the deck (about 50 feet alt.) at the last waypoint and pickle torps when the itlooks good through the bombsite.. no auto-pilot , auto level ..just stick and rudder fly the crosshairs - lead boat slightly and..no more skimmer.

A couple of days ago I did some online He- Torpedoing, three undisturbed flights, one ship each flight and 75% of my side's goals done by one frickin' plane.

I think it's a shame so few fly bombers/escort.

That bombsight trick makes it easy, eh, you can drop your fish before in reach of AA.
