Basically, is it possible?

Looking for a way to play with friends against the AI with the ability to respawn like in the standard dogfight map.

Can this be done?

Thanks!

yup. In the DCG. Fly it as a coop against the AI.

At the expense of looking like a noob (though it was probably obvious)...DCG?

what you are asking for cannot be done.

Only time you can fly (with friends) against AI is in coops.

No respawn.

So there is no respawn option at all? How does the co-op multiplayer compare with combat flight simulator 3 (I haven't played either) and I'm trying to decide which to buy based solely on co-op multiplayer capability

Thanks!

I like the coop function for many reasons. Not the least of which is it gives a good opportunity to practice some squad tactics and encourage survival (due to the "no-respawn" function).

I can't compare to CFS3's multiplayer coop as I think that pos was only on my rig for about a week.

I highly recommend you just forget about CFS3... at least try FB first.. FB is great in coop mode..thats mostly what I fly.. you cant respawn like in CFS..but if you have externals enabled you can still enjoy the game after you crash/get shot down/land safely. You can set the level of the AI individually from rookie to ace in the FMB. If you want to set yourself up for a bunch of hassles then get CFS3 but remember... you will have to download a whole bunch of 3rd party stuff, planes objects etc to get it to run right and to get it to the level that most CFS3ers are at who have been with it from the beginning. With FB... get the Aces Expansion GOLD pack ands dont look back. Make sure you get the GOLD though as it has FB and the Aces Expansion.

Is this the one I need: http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/230028.asp

I also see that they have the IL2-FB for half the price... is the Aces expansion really worth the extra $20 (extra $40 if you factor in that I will need 2 copies) if all I want to do is jump online for some co-op action with a friend.

Actually... NO.. that is not..repeat NOT what you need if you do not have FB. If you dont have FB then you need this.... http://www.ebgames.com/ebx_assets/product_images/241057.jpg (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/241057.asp)

The Aces Expansion Pack is a MUST. It brings your FB up to version 2.0. I paid $39 just for FB when it was first released and $29 for the AEP so you are getting a fair shake.

Thanks for the info bearcat.... so If I'm playing a coop mission with a buddy of mine and we both die, What happens? Does the mission give us an option to restart immediately or is there some signficant delay? Thanks!

The host can stop and restart the mission whenever he likes. But he doesn't have to. If there is still some fighting between AI units going on he might just as well wait and watch the end of the battle.

co-op is good - and you can make your own missions, use mission generators that people have made, etc...

it's great fun - stick with FB, CFS3 is not that good mate

S!

Salute!
