I guess you will find some stuff at Taispin's site:

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/Tailspin/index.htm

There are plenty of links there too.

Simulators don't let you experience the feeling of pulling G's. Whenever you pull hard G's, your airplane bleeds a LOT of energy.

One way to get better at energy fighting (BnZ, too) is to make yourself constantly mindful of how much G you are pulling. Keep the G to a minimum - don't pull hard.

To reverse direction, turn obliquely or go vertical Let Earth's gravity help you around. If turning this way does not let you get turned around quickly enough, it means you ought to extend farther and higher, and then reverse.

To summarize:
(1) don't pull any more G than you absolutely need to.
(2) speed is height, height is speed. energy is life.

Caveat: speed is life, but too much speed will rip off your control surfaces. Diving too fast in post-patch FB is a risky thing to do..... but, it's risky for the other guy too!

Actually, one energy technique is the wings-level max-G pull up to vertical. This allows you to gain maximum altitude and keep sight of the bogey. Open up Shaw's "Fighter Combat" and read all about it.

Yes, true http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif That's a valid move when the bogey has a guns solution on your six. At silghtly longer range, it's also a valid way to quickly get angle off when the bogey has rear-aspect missiles.

Shaw's is an awesome book. Shaw also assumes you're flying a Sierra Hotel fighter with a decent thrust-to-weight ratio, a category into which WW2 prop fighters don't always fit. When you have the E to spend in a high-G pull, make it count. ~S!~

Understanding your energy state in relationship to the bandit's energy state is energy fighting.

The difficult part is being able to keep track of the bandit's energy state http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

That is experience I believe. I like the post on G's - that is a great thing to remember!
