Specs:
More expensive than the dining set.
Less expensive than the couch.
Smaller than the dishwasher.
Just as noisy as the refridgerator.
Faster than the cars' computer.
Less practical than the car.
Face it, people who put thier computer specs in thier signature are pretty ****ing wierd.

Just play along with them. You know what thier up to, the real game is to find out why they're up to it. Sometimes its because they have a really good point to make, and sometimes it because the person behind the alias is a whack-job.

I voted both..... game and sim.. the bveauty of this thing is.... it can be either..depending on how you set it. Sometimes I like to go all the way..even turning off the hudlog.... sometimes in certain coops with more targets than could possible be taken out by the planes in the coop I may use unlimited ammo ..... I like it because you can do what you want when you want..... My kind of product.

It's a simulation of WWII aerial combat but it's also a game. So both.

(To clarify) How about these choices:
Simulation Game
or
Arcade Game

Simulation Game all the way. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

You're absolutely right: It is an old question and the topic of hundreds of debates.

I'll just pass.

Who are you who are so wise in the ways of science?

Il*2:FB is both a game and a sim, as Bearcat pointed out.

It can be game-like if you set it that way.

If you set it up differently, it is a simulation of flight in the genre of combat. Anyone who thinks it is not a simulation might want to look up the word "simulation", I think. "Simulation" means: a representation of the real thing. It does not imply perfection, it implies an attempt at realism.

FB might not be the sim you want it to be, but it does in fact simulate flight. It might not be as realistic as you might like, it might overlook things you feel are obvious omissions, but it does simulate flight. Sure as shootin doesn't simulate a soccer match, now does it? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

My daughter-in-law, who flies 737-800's for a large airline, and C-5's for the AF Reserves on her time off, is tolerant when I talk about my flight sim. She took me onboard the simulator at the AF Base where her unit trains and let me watch her 'fly' for a couple of hours.

What we do is a game. But it is a very good one IMO.

No military simulator can compare with a home PC sim, Don. I see your point, but FB does indeed simulate flight.

Actually its whatever you want it to be. It simulates flight in a simulation/arcade gaming atmosphere. You can make it as hard or as easy as you want it to be. The ultimate jack of all trades.

No limpeys please

I wish it were a more realistic flight simulator(torque effect for example), but I understand gameplay is why most of us are here.

One large difference is our ability to fly so many different aircraft, each modelled with the characteristics of the marque. At the AF site, there were three simulators, each dedicated to one specific aircraft and one or two mission types.

On this count, FB wins I think.
