I would like to make a small movie in LOMAC using the ingame software available.

Can someone go through the steps needed to make this happen? Please!

Record your mission or track using Ctrl+R in the Mission Editor. Then if you'd like to change some camera angles go back w/the saved track and hit Ctrl+E to edit the track. When thats all said and done I recommend turning on the framerate counter (Ctrl+backspace) and watch that track. Pay attention to the time counter underneath, it counts time in seconds. Let's say you want to record part of a track at 125 seconds to 130 seconds. Thats 2min 5 seconds to 2min 10 seconds. Go to Mission editor, choose the track and pull down the menu on the top that has says Flight. Pull down the record avi menu and select. Then you can put the time to start recording and time to stop in the menu on the top right. If the mission starts at 8am, the time to record on that mission will read 8 (first box) 2 (second box) 5(third box), leave the 4th box empty. I've found that 25% quality and 25 fps are perfect for high quality vids. I recommend uncompressed and using a video editing tool to splice and compress the video. It makes a much better finished product than 80% of the vids I've seen out there. Hit the start button and it will render frame by fram till it's complete, the sound will then render and then it will go to the after action screen. Now you just have to edit the clips.

1) Create a 'Track' in Lomac by pressing 'Ctrl-R', or selecting 'Record Track' from the 'Flight' menu in the Mission Editor to start a Mission. this tells Lomac to 'record' the mission. When you press the 'Esc' key to Quit the mission, Lomac then prompts you to Name and Save the 'Track' file.

Flight Menu:

Save Track Screen:

2) Next, you can optionally, 'Edit' the Track using the 'Video Edit' item on from the 'Flight' menu. This allows you to change views (and cut off the end of the track if you 'Esc' before the Track is finished), insert sound, and save this as a new track. (I won't go into inserting sound here.) This step is optional.

(Before making your .AVI file be sure to have WAV selected as your Sound Recording Properties on your pc. Otherwise you probably won't have sound in your .avi file. That happened to me.)

3) Next, you create your .AVI file by selecting the 'Record AVI' from the 'Flight' menu. This allows you to select the Filename, AVI Codec driver (I used the Indeo Video 5.0 codec, which worked ok), and frames per second (I left that at 25). This process can take a very long time. I recorded a 5 minute movie to an .avi file and it took about 4 hours. The file was about 450megs. This is the 'raw' material for your movie.

Record AVI Screen:

4) Next, you load this 'raw' avi footage into a Video Edit program like Windows Movie Maker (which comes with XP, and is available for free download from Microsoft.) You'll see people using other Video Editors a lot of the time. You create your movie, cut scenes, add effects, sound, text, etc... And you export/output your movie in a more compress format like mpeg. (My 450meg .avi file ended up being a 20meg .mpg file. This was mostly due to the mpeg compression, but I also cut scenes out of it too.

Everyone, feel free to add or correct me on this, but this is just a simple overview...
