Don't see this moment as a sad one but instead an opportunity to make a change, get something better or more that suits your current life. I know that soon enough you will find something much better. 22 years, wow! That is almost unheard in the United States, I have 7 years in my current job and follow workers laugh at me as the Dinosaur of the company.

Very sorry to hear that, Bearcat.

It isn't much consolation but that's kind of the way it is these days. Even the best employees can't expect to work at the same company for a whole career. You're in a huge club, sad to say.

For what it's worth, the newspaper in Phoenix where I worked as a reporter for 25 years closed in early 1997 (and we were making money!). It took a couple of years of working jobs I wasn't too thrilled about just to pay the bills. Five years ago I was hired to be the entire Kauai bureau for a Honolulu daily. I have a great job on what is arguably the prettiest island in the world. That paper in Phoenix did me a huge favor, but I sure didn't feel that way at the time.

BC, you're one of the most thoughtful posters on this board. I have no doubt you'll get offers from a lot of good companies.

Good luck!

Real Sorry to hear that BearCat http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I know where you are coming from man. My wife and I both worked for a Fortune 500 company until they sent our jobs to China. My future right now is kind of up in the air too. My brother is one step from getting canned from his employer after 28yrs. But this is about you, and from what I've seen on this forum you'll end up OK in the end. You've got a lot of friends here http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Good Luck and keep us informed on how things are going.

Dang! That's just awful, Bearcat. But you seem to be an intelligent and energetic person, if online impressions can be seen as resonably accurate. I'm sure you'll find something that will suit your talents and abilities. Anyone hiring you will be lucky to have you. Good luck. I'm sure things will work out.

Bear,
I know that an indomitable person such as yourself with such a great attitude is going to find another, better avocation.
Good luck my friend and know that you are HIGHLY respected here (and I'm sure among your non FB community http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif)
