ok, I'm doing a Early Med campaign - Italy v British but need a few things.

First a map of North AFrica, where can I get such. Secondly, Italian voice overs - good quality, excited Italian voices - just like a 1950's 'B' grade Hercules film! LOL! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks

The chances of actually getting it are slim, but any new map is a welcome addition. Except to the look-a-gift-horse-in-the-mouth folks, that is.

For starters, with current maps, you can make some psudeo-Afrika settings with existing objects. A while back [username] nsu posted some nice screenies of a desert fortification he made using Objects 4-7, 14-16, and 168-175.
It looked pretty good, and I had fun making one myself.

The chances are not so slim anymore. See this thread:

Re: 'B' Movie voiceovers :-)

I am the guy working on "post-production" sound editing for the italian voice pack.. Currently I have Actors 2-3-4-5-8 working in FB, still have 1-6-7-9 to do.

It's been a month since we resurrected the project (that had been languishing for the past few months) and we've restarted from scratch, with new people (myself included -- I wasn't on the original team), e.g. re-translating all voices, recorded speech "using" nine people from different parts of Italy and finally adding some effects, like static noise, to each sentence spoken.

I completed a Italian fighter pilot campaign using the Kuban map. Depicts a career from fall 1940 thru spring 1941. The Kuban map represents Sicily and Albania pretty well. Most important, the distances flown are accurate. The distance to Malta from southern Sicily is 125km. Its not perfect, but it works resonably well. I have a music from fratelli d'Italia, (natn. anthem) if you need it. Medal pack too.

Hey Maxmars!

Good to know that you are working with the Italian voice pack. I am the one who made the RAF commonwealth voice pack and I know exactly what you are going through at this moment. Seems like there is no end to the project but you will get there soon!

Let me know if you need any technical assistance or advice on making it great!

Thanks NTESLA, I know your work well.. As a matter of fact I borrowed from you the idea of adding background noise.

Only, I used CG white noise with *hand made* singularities as you would expect from such horrible radios. I think you know the amount of work involved. :-)

Italian radios were famous for being poor (as with most equipment), there are tales of white noises making pilots break formations because they were mistaken for bullets! Therefore you will hear a lot of crackling, whistling etc in between the "normal" static noise.

Thanks also for the encouraging.. At night when I sleedp I have nightmares about the voice pack. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Just let me add: I know you used engine noise in background, not white noise, only sleep deprivation made me unclear in the last post about it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif
