I think it's great that a new SH game is coming out. I just learned about, but was disappointed to learn that it was again from the German point of view. I am just old enough to remember the end of
WW II, and I am a Yank all the way. I can't possibly bring myself to sink Allied shippping even in a game; therefore I guess I will just have to stick with SH I until you all come out with a new game from the Allied point of view. Does anyone remember, we kicked their butts?

Silent Hunter II was supposed to be Silent Hunter from the German side, with better graphics. SHIII was originally billed (three or four years ago now) as SHII but back to the Pacific.

I think they're trying to make up for the mess that was made of SHII. On the other hand, a modding team has remade SHII into Pacific Aces, downloadable at www.subsim.com (http://www.subsim.com) (you have to have SHII though).

I think the team justified their choice well enough. Personally I would like to see some kind of Pacific expansion at a later time if this engine and design turn out to be succesful.

I wouldnâ't be surprised at all if a spiced up SHIII surfaces a year later aimed at the pacific theatre and with some new eye candy such as a fully 3D sub. By not including that feature in this version they save development time and also have something really tasty to introduce in the next release.

well i wouldent buy SH3 if it from the American point of view, the Germans had the best U-boats and crew, can you tell me that the americans had anything better than the type Type XXI in ww2.

It's not about what you think was the best, it's about what you like. Americans grew up hearing about the war against Japan, and so would like to play that war.

No, we didn't develop anything like the Type XXI, but we didn't have anything as primitive as the Type II either.

Also, arguing about who has the best crew is like arguing about who has the best soldiers. At different times during the war different sides have different advantages. In the long run, men are men.

Sorry Steve, but some men are pussies, some are squids like you and some men are US Marines like me. There is not one fighting force on this planet who could win a war with us and history has proven this. Unleash the Devil Dogs from HELL on Iraq NOW.

The americans needed no Type XXI to win the naval war against Japan

yeah, it's strange that the Japanese pretty much let the u.s. and allied subs rape their merchant marine without really doing too much about it until it was far too late.

they must have been aware of what went on in WWI and WWII in regards to the British. They fought on Britain's side in WWI,for God's sake. Didn't they see that their situation was similar?

my dad was on the Calvin Coolidge when it hit a mine and sank.
