Look mate - don't take offence here but this is a useless Poll.

Unless you're prepared to write it yourself - do you really think that 1C or UBI are going to act on this?

Any idea how much it would cost to hire a writer and print the thing?

Hi Krotos,

I think this poll may prove quite useful.

The reason I say this is that it may influence the production of future IL-2-related manuals.

Any thoughts and suggestions will, at the very least, be read by those who produce this franchise and some suggestions may in fact be taken onboard for future projects, for example, Battle of Britain.

I was thinking the very same thing recently after getting hold of a copy of a new FB campaign expansion disk called - Operation: Fall Blau (German for Code Blue), made by the same guy who produced Operation: Barbarossa.

One of the highlights of this add-on is the manual. As well as covering details about the actual campaign, it also contains an extensive section on hints and tips not only for playing the add-on, but also offers useful insights into how FB works. For example, there's fascinating stuff on how the A.I. thinks, how and what it 'sees' etc. It's the best manual I've read of any FB add-on. There's also gen on how the rest of FB works, such as how and when the A.I. reponds to radio commands etc.
FB Campaign and mission insights are also featured. This is the kind of manual I wished I had had when I first started palying FB.

So, if nothing else, we may get some positive feedback from this thread, i.e. better manuals for future projects, so I think it may prove useful.

Cheers,

Derek.

I think it would be a good commercial project for a 3rd party. All those "strategy guides" you see in the shops for Final Fantasy or Grand Theft Auto or whatever are all done by 3rd party publishers.

There's so much that could be written about this game from a/c stats to combat techniques to bombsight instructions as well as historical background on the maps, a/c and key battles. It could fill quite a chunky little volume.

The major drawback is that everytime a new patch comes out, the game changes quite a bit - with new maps and aircraft added as well as changes to existing aircraft. It would be quite difficult to make one that stayed up to date.

However, if Pacific Fighters comes out including all the a/c for FB/AEP, that might be a good time to bring out a definitive guide.

If you want a manual you can go here:

I'd rather have an extra plane than a manual, or some bugs removed, so I voted I agree somewhat. I don't realy need it in bookform. An online .pdf would be fine with me...

I would agree.

The only area that the CFS line has over the IL2 line is in documentation. The documentation for CFS2 was simply awesome, while I've always found the documentation for IL2, IL2:FB, and AEP, simply lacking.
