Well, other than converting these to .jpg's, I didn't bother these. Some folks wanted to see some shots, so I took the time to do this for ya. I won't leave these up long, but they will be here till you all are finished looking. I must add that these really don't do the card justice as it appears in action; I did nothing to these! (usually I resize for viewing on this board)

Great!

I'm used to these beautiful graphics as I have a R9600Pro card. Not as smooth and powerful, but equally well looking.

Welcome to the club, Tsisqua!

Yep, and pretty good FR on perfect, too. I am actually flying on perfect, not just running a slide-show to take screens with.

Cool effects. I bought a Radeon 9800 card the other day, but I haven't had time to install it yet. My new CPU arrived yesterday so I will probably put them both in at the same time.

I hope I get as good looking screens, but I am only running an AMD 2100+

Which absolute GENIUS is responsible for the Gladiator cockpit? It's breathtaking.

Respectfully, I don't think these screens are that much better to induce me to throw away my 64 mb TI4200 at this point. There isn't much of anything that I'm not already seeing with my card.

tsisqua:
Thanks for that. My system is now similar,
although with an AMD 2000 XP, although it seems
to report pretty dismal CPU benchmarks for some
reason (might be the Abit KG7 Raid board?).

I can get similar quality screen shots if
I pump up the resolution and set up perfect,
but frame rates are around 15 average in the
typical single player mission, though, which
isn't really playable.

I notice that my frame rates drop as I
increase time compression. I presume that
at higher time compression more work is
being done on the CPU, so drops in frame
rate would presumably indicate that AEP
is CPU bound for me.

Just for you information oleg86, those people saying they can run perfect on MX cards are lying. I own an MX card and it wont run perfect, you can't even enable it. Doesnt have the shaders required or something.

Tsisqua,

At what resolution are you running that? Also please let us know what options are on/off at IL2 and your video card settings as possible! Great shots.

I don't think he said he was running perfect did he? He said it isn't that much better that he would throw away his card. Face it not everybody has $200 to be buying a new card every year to have the limited improvement that this card gives over the TI4200. Also from the poll it appears that a lot of people are playing with older cards than that.

I love my 9800pro, best card Ive ever owned.

ATI and Nvidia should both have their next generation on the shelves this month.

Im thinking about the NV40 because 64bit driver support is important to me. Its rumored that nvidia will trump ATI this round. Either way, both companies are sure to throw down heavy.

I cant imagine what IL2 will look like with everything cranked at super high res. It should be mind blowing.

Im selling this 9800pro to a friend to defer some of the purchase price.

The 9800pro is the biggest bottleneck in my system at this moment. Strange to say that, but this A64 is ready to rock.

The resolution was 1024x768, 32 bit color. FSAA was set at 4x, as was AF. I am just now finding that I can run in higher resolutions with smooth travel. I'll post more screenies later . . . I am off to make some.

Trust me there is alot of difference even on perfect between the 9800 Pro and a TI4200 64MB. I had the same card and struggled to catchup myself with the performance curve. But I can assuradly say that the difference even with excellent settings or low settings is worlds apart between the two cards. I like image quality and the ability for smooth play. It took me awhile to get there, but I can understand where many people are coming from on the money end. But to say it's not any better is just silly.

hes not saying the ti4200 is better, no one would its an old card, but it is saying the difference between them is not worth the money to buy a new card, i just upgraded to a 5900xt from a mx440, its great can run everying on full detail etc, but i only really got it for ut2k4, il2fb was perfect on my mx440 even with all this new pefect water etc with my new card it dosnt feel anydiffernt, the water is a small very small part of the eye candy, i spend my time looking at the planes.

I did a triple take when I read that. I finally figured out that you weren't claiming to run the new perfect water with no problems on the MX 440. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

But if you really mean that a 5900 doesn't feel any different than an MX 440, then you must not be very observant? I mean, even the planes must look much different, you haven't fooled with any settings, or else the 5900 is crap. The MX 440 is a DX7 card for crying out loud.
