I was looking at hte new dev update and saw a picture off the wing of a Spitfire (Seafire?) looking at the water. Then I looked at another picture of an atoll. All the open ocean water is chopped to ****...I'm sorry, thats personal observation and my opinion on conditions. The modeling is great for a solid 20 knot trade wind, the ocean just looks ugly. But when the winds die down, she gets glassy (smooth like glass, reflective surfice of sunrise and sunset if the wind drops). And some of those caps look like good sized swell (albiet wind swell), which brings me to another point.

When theres a nice swell travelling the ocean it makes just beautiful lines, at least when its hitting the shelves next to land masses it does. Not always is it crossed up wind swell.

I know you have plans to incorporate what we have suggested as retold from the E3 (though you might have planned that before we all made the suggestions), heres one more crazy "I pwn the flight sim world!" thing you can ponder.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif I snapped, but with real LIVE floatplanes we have techie and gameplay reasons for worrying about water wave size, velocity, spray, and stuff I can't even think about. I can imagine the Whining and book memorizing about float or hull charateristics. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

For our planes that can't land on water, we best look at improving clouds and how they affect air combat.

Most definately I'd put this idea last on the list of "optional cool things to add". But it still goes on the list. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I can't wait for the new clouds though. I hope oleg models thunderheads with severe updrafts and downdrafts. See the unlucky person in my sights duck into thunderhead, pretty soon we get message "Thunderhead has killed xxx". Hehe. It could be a contest to see who could clear it over the top. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

In deeper ocean the size & direction of swell really depends on the local cyclonic weather systems; if you've got ( eg ) 4 areas of low pressure around you'll get swell in 4 directions, which is really uncomfortable to sail in. Anything over a force 4 wind will pick up the top of the waves to give white caps and spray ( over force 5 ), and obviously a higher wind will be a result of a bigger weather system so the size of the swell can pick up; you can have high wind without big swell though. Local wind variations will churn up the sea surface more than anything.

Are we going to have big enough seas to throw the carriers around?

Imagine the challenge landing on a carrier bobbing up and down like the real thing....you'd have a lot of complaining for sure.

Well i think its an AWESOME job they made with the ocean.
Finalle the sea look like ""3D", with big waves all around. Not like a lake water, that's very pretty but static and noh waves, or very small waves. In this screenshot its very well reproduce the "fury" r movemente of the sea

http://www.il2sturmovik.com/forgotten_battles/devupdate/210504/grab0006.jpg

Also the dark blue color of the deep sea, in a clear day its very well reproduced, its almost like a CGI render.

For me leave as it is, because its perfect.

Congrats Oleg and team, i think you made on outstanding job!!!

Si hay que huir, YO PRIMERO!!!
