Quite a few of the aircraft in FB have iron sights to use in case the reflector becomes unusable.
IMHO it would be a nice touch if they could actually be used in the game - maybe the allied aircraft could have that as their shifted gunsight view (rather than the current extra bit of zoom).

that would be nice

and i never fly with the Shift F1 except in the german planes where you have to

also i wish in the german planes even without Shift+F1 that you would be aligned with gunsight

also some planes seem to have the reflector shot off more than others, i think some it cant even be damaged, or atleast its never happened to me, but seems like the p39 and the p47 always get the reflector shot off

Whe the revi is shot off, I believe the bullet must first go through the pilot's head or throat, am I wrong?

Not necessarily, damage can occur from a number of directions - though if the cockpit gets that shotup its seems probable that the pilot would wear some of the hate.

However there are a few other ways the reflector can become unserviceable (in RL not FB), hence the provision of iron sights.

It seems a pity not to be able to use them in FB - some have been modelled really well (the set in the A6M5 cockpit looks particularly sweet).

For some Allied planes, ie. P-47, it would be nice if the Control+D combination (which enables dim on German sights) would enable the auxilary Iron sights instead. Of course that would mean some work on the cocpit 3d model...
