Mods, make this a sticky. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Here's to hoping that all of the old GD and PL regulars who were alienated by Ubi will enjoy a new home here.

Here 'tis:

http://acompletewasteofspace.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=4

We want to create an environment where everyone can feel free to express their opinions and insights. Such an environment will require a consensus from all members regarding behavior within the community.

DA RULEZ:

1. Don't post anything that would be illegal in the United States. Very simple. If you post something illegal or post something discussing illegal activities, you're banned.

2. Nothing "unsafe for work". Many people browse forums while they're at work, and the last thing we want is someone opening a thread with an inappropriate image on it and getting caught. If you feel the need to share pornography or otherwise "not work safe" images, link them and make note in the thread title that the thread contains images that might not be safe for work. If you post an inappropriate image, we'll edit the post to remove it.

3. Nothing racist or bigoted. There was some confusion about what was meant by "sarcastic" in the previous "rules" addition, so we're clarifying.

4. Try to be respectful. If you feel the need to really berate someone, do it via some method other than the public forum.

5. Don't even bother trying to post under other aliases. It is very easy for mods check your IP. If you do this, you'll be warned, then banned.

6. No images greater than 800x600. It is annoying to have to scroll over to read the rest of the thread because you felt the need to post an excessively large picture.

7. Absolutely NO impersonating anyone from Ubi or from the old PL. Anyone who does this will be banned permanently. If you are one of the "old timers" and someone here is posting under your old username, PM a mod immediately and we will take care of it.

8. This community contains people from all over the world. As such, there are a myriad of views surrounding every conceivable issue. As such, contention is bound to erupt on any of a number of issues. Debates will and can become heated. Foul language and insults are permitted, but they'll only make you look like an intellectual cripple. If you make a habit of making an *** of yourself, we'll start editing your posts to make them less stupid. If you continue, you'll be warned, then banned.

Our goal in all of this is to have lax moderation, letting the community police itself. However, this will require some trust from the community regarding the moderators. Since we're not going to try and craft rules that are absolutely explicit about what is appropriate and what is not, subjective judgment by the moderators will be the final word on everything that goes on. That being said, we will do all we can NOT to have to moderate.

There are a number of methods by which to contact moderators in the event you get a hair up your *** about something. Private messages are suggested.

This rule I do not understand. Can you please define for me what "sarcastic racism" is?

Understood. The above text is plain and simple. But, rule number 3 as it is written, would give one the impression that some racist discussion is ok as long as one is only being sarcastic.

Cartrix, what's all this bollox about 'no scripts' on the IL2/FB forums, and why was this implimented in such a shabby, sneaky and underhand manner?

This has caused a great deal of frustration and displeasure for many members of these forums and we have never had a satisfactory explanation, let alone any warning of what was going to happen.

Perhaps you would care to explain WTF this is all about and why this was done in the way that it was done?

The scripts have been removed because of security issues. We know that all of the regular community members were only using this scripting to personalise their posts. Unfortunately the possibilities of security breaches meant that this had to be stopped.

The implementation of this was not intended to be underhand. I apologise to the community that there was no announcement by me and that you found out without an official warning.

As I have stated in recent posts we are currently working on improvments to our forum service and will bring you more news in the coming weeks on this issue.

What about that promised link to the off topic forum at the top of the Ubi Il-2 forums?

There is only so much of RBJ to go around.

I'm currently working my combat medic skills on Dantooine.

C'mon Tully, honesty is a virtue as well. It's about time the link was put up. Is there a problem with UBI, don't they want it?

Never say to a cop...

1. I can't reach my license unless you hold my beer.

2. Sorry, Officer, I didn't realize my radar detector wasn't plugged in.

3. Aren't you the guy from the Village People?

4. Hey, you must've been doing about 125 mph to keep up with me. Good job!

5. Are You Andy or Barney?

6. I thought you had to be in relatively good physical condition to be a police officer.

7. You're not going to check the trunk, are you?

8. I pay your salary!

9. Gee, Officer! That's terrific. The last officer only gave me a warning, too!

10. I was trying to keep up with traffic. Yes, I know there are no other cars around. That's how far ahead of me they are.

11. When the Officer says "Your eyes look red, have you been drinking?" You probably shouldn't respond with,"Gee Officer, your eyes look glazed, have you been eating doughnuts?"

Why this, here and now? Aww.. why not.. just to alleviate the pain from waiting for "the patch".

There is no patch. We are all wasting our time.

I honestly can't give you any more info than I have. Cartrix works in Europe & I live in Australia. It's now the weekend, so I'd guess nothing on that front 'til Monday at least.

In that case I'm going down the pub. Or I would be if a) I hadn't already been there and b) it weren't approaching 2 am. Perhaps bed is a better idea.

G'night all.
Cheers!
