I tested AcesHigh2 and found two things I liked.
The possibility to move the head sideways, and that the aircraft yawed when I used the ailerons. In IL2 where there yaw when you banked and you must use the rudder to compenasate.
The possibility to move the head sideways reduced the "one eyed blinker feeling"

I like the idea of being able to shift the 'observation point' (hell, why limit yourself to left/right shifts- I want to be able to raise or lower my seat too, for a better FOV over the nose) within the cockpit, but yaw is supposed to be a function of the rudder, isn't it?

cheers

i would really like to use my hat switch to lean left/right or to raise/lower my head. i already have TIR so looking around is no problem.

The views in AH are one area that totalt beats IL-2 hands down; the trim is another.

Hat switch seems made for pilot head movement. I use mouse for looking around, with mouse sensitivity in FB Input Menu set at 5.0 (10.0 max), and so I have free Hat Switch.

One joystick button I have mapped to gunsight view toggle and that's how I move pilot head forward and back, and with German gunsights, side to side head movement too.

Oleg knows he can do pilot head movement. Maybe for BoB and Beyond.

But...gunsight view doesn't work for I~185 so I wonder about that cos its been said I~185 is like BoB cockpits to come.

I dont mean to rotate the head, it can be done already I mean to look forward all the time and move the head sideways, like you do in a car if your sight is blocked by the roofbars or anything similar very close to you.
By the way I use the ministick on my Hotas to look around and the pow-stick to look fast at any direction

the i-185 gunsite view does work as far as i can tell, its just a very small movement, apparently the resting position and the position needed to look at the gunsite are very close to each other.

Interesting idea there Spades. I never saw the effect, it must be so small.

They could have put full motion in anyway to use as forward/back head motion to see out the canopy better. Granted the I~185 canopy is ~very~ clean so you don't need to move around alot. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The movement is small, but when you're in the "forward/gunsight" position the gunsight reticle (really your head) has a lot less tendancy to drift under heavy manouvering.
